Afghan Parliament Dismisses 3 Cabinet Ministers

Afghanistan's parliament has voted to dismiss the foreign minister and two other Cabinet members for their failure to spend funds in their development budgets.

Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Public Works Minister Mahmood Baligh and Labor and Social Affairs Minister Nasreen Oryakhel, were stripped of their posts following no confidence votes on Saturday.

French Journalist Detained in Turkey

A French news website says one of its journalists has been detained in Turkey, and it is demanding his immediate release.

Les Jours website says Olivier Bertrand was detained Friday, along with a Turkish photographer, while conducting an interview in the city of Gaziantep, near the border with Syria. The photographer was subsequently released.

A concert by British pop legend Sting is marking the reopening of the Paris' Bataclan concert hall one year after suicidal jihadist turned it into a bloodbath and killed 90 revelers with automatic weapons and explosive belts.

French President, Britain's Prince Harry mark Armistice Day

French President Francois Hollande and Britain's Prince Harry paid their respects Friday to the fallen of World War I, marking 98 years since the Allies claimed victory in the enormously bloody conflict.

Hollande attended a solemn and chilly Armistice Day ceremony at the famed Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Harry, who served with the British Armed Forces in Afghanistan, attended a service at the national Armed Forces Memorial in Staffordshire, England.

Chinese e-Shoppers Spend Billions on Singles Day

In a bright spot for China's cooling economy, online shoppers spent billions of dollars Friday on "Singles Day," a quirky holiday that has grown into the world's busiest day for e-commerce.

The country's biggest e-commerce brand, Alibaba Group, said sales by the thousands of retailers on its platforms passed 82.4 billion yuan ($12 billion) in the first 12 hours of the event. That is four times the $3 billion research firm comScore says Americans spent in total last year on Cyber Monday, the country's biggest online shopping day.

Attack at Turkish Government Building in Southeast Wounds 3

Kurdish militants attacked a government building in southeast Turkey on Thursday, wounding at least three people including a district governor, officials said.

The state-run Anadolu Agency said the office of the district governor in the town of Derik, near the border with Syria, was attacked with rocket launchers. But a subsequent statement by the regional governor's office said an improvised explosive device was used. It didn't elaborate.
