Palestinian militants fired a rocket at southern Israel on Thursday morning, hours after Israeli warplanes attacked "terror sites" inside the Gaza Strip, the army said.

"A rocket fired from Gaza exploded in an open field in the Eshkol region," a military spokesman told Agence France Presse.

Israeli air strikes killed at least one Palestinian and wounded 10, two seriously, in the Gaza Strip late on Tuesday, Palestinian medics and health officials told Agence France Presse.

They named the dead man as Abdullah al-Telbani, 22, and said he was riding in a motorized rickshaw in Jabaliya refugee camp in the north of the strip when the attack took place. It was not immediately clear if the other casualties were riding with him.

Gaza militants have fired two rockets and two mortars at southern Israel, none of them causing any injuries or damage, the Israeli military said on Sunday.

"We identified two rocket launches from Gaza at Israel to the Eshkol and Shaar Hanegev regions Saturday night," a spokeswoman told Agence France Presse, adding two mortars were fired at Israel the evening before.

Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya will begin a tour on Sunday, his office said, his first exit from Gaza since Israel and Egypt imposed a siege in 2007.

Sources in his office told AFP that Haniya would visit Egypt and Sudan, after which he plans to go to Qatar, Turkey, Tunisia, and Bahrain.

Gaza militants fired a rocket at southern Israel on Monday but it landed in open ground in the Negev desert, injuring nobody, the military said.

"A rocket fell in the Shaar Hanegev region; there were no casualties and no damage," a spokeswoman told Agence France Presse.

The Israeli army expressed regret that civilians were hurt but blamed Gaza's Hamas rulers for operating within residential areas.

An Israeli air strike against a car in Gaza City on Thursday killed at least two Palestinians and wounded two others, Palestinian medical and security sources said.

The Israeli army had no immediate comment on the reported strike, which Palestinian security sources said was carried out by an Israeli drone.

Israeli Home Front Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said Wednesday that the Jewish state has the ability to hit targets deep inside Lebanon and Syria.

Israel has airpower and the intelligence ability “to hit launch sites everywhere -- from a range of a few kilometers in Gaza and Lebanon to a range of hundreds of kilometers deep in Lebanon and Syria," Vilnai said.
