Prime Minister Tammam Salam will travel over the weekend to Mauritania to take part in the Arab Summit which is set to begin early next week, al-Liwaa daily reported on Wednesday.

At the summit, which will be held on July 26 and 27, Salam is expected to deliver a speech that will touch on the latest developments mainly the difficulties and problems experienced in the region.

The 29th dialogue session between Hizbullah and al-Mustaqbal Movement was held in Ain al-Tineh Tuesday evening where the interlocutors stressed support to the Lebanese army and security apparatuses in their fight against terrorism, al-Joumhouria daily reported on Wednesday.

The session was held in the presence of Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's advisor Hajj Hussein Khalil, Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan, MP Hassan Fadlallah, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, adviser of the Mustaqbal Movement leader Nader Hariri, Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq and MP Samir al-Jisr.

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc snapped back Tuesday at Hizbullah's Loyalty to Resistance bloc over accusations that al-Mustaqbal Movement and Saudi Arabia are obstructing the presidential elections in Lebanon.

“The bloc condemns Loyalty to Resistance's statement, which represented a return to the rhetoric of underestimating the intelligence of the Lebanese through repeating malicious claims and accusations, in a desperate attempt to pin the blame on al-Mustaqbal Movement,” said the bloc in a statement issued after its weekly meeting.

The Change and Reform parliamentary bloc led by MP Michel Aoun on Tuesday called for approving two decrees related to offshore oil and gas excavation, while reiterating its rejection of term extensions for military chiefs.

Artillery shelling by the Lebanese army on Tuesday destroyed the posts of the Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front in the Wadi al-Kheil and Khirbet Younin areas in the outskirts of the eastern border town of Arsal, media reports said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that Israel would respond with an "iron fist" if attacked, in a speech marking 10 years since a devastating conflict with Hizbullah in Lebanon.

Netanyahu described the war as "a clash between an extremist terror organization with an Islamist ideology and a free democratic Israel."

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard stressed on Tuesday the United States' continued support to the Lebanese army and people and highlighted the importance of the American-Lebanese partnership, the embassy said in a statement.

“One key aspect of America’s support is our assistance to the Lebanese army and the security services. America has been, is, and will continue to be the country’s foremost security partner,” said Richard after a meeting with Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

A Palestinian national was killed early on Tuesday in Sidon's refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh when unknown assailants on a motorcycle shot him and fled, the National News Agency said.

“Early Tuesday unknown assailants opened fire on Palestinian Ali al-Bahti in al-Tahtani street in the refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh,” NNA said.

Al-Mustaqabl Movement slammed accusations fired by Hizbullah MP Nawaf Mousawi that blamed the Movement and Saudi Arabia for obstructing the election of a head of state, As-Sharq daily reported on Tuesday.

Mustaqbal official circles said: “Hizbullah is throwing the ball and responsibility in our court in order to drive the attention away from its obstruction of the election of a president.
