A fire broke out on Sunday at a plastic factory in the southern city of Sidon, reported the National News Agency.
It said that the factory is located in the city's vegetable market.

Phalange Party MP Sami Gemayel reiterated his rejection of the adoption of the 1960 parliamentary electoral law for the upcoming parliamentary elections, urging the need to head to parliament to subject the available laws to a vote, reported the daily An Nahar Sunday.
He told the daily: “Laws are available and one of them is bound to garner the greatest number of votes.”

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov concluded on Sunday his four-day visit to Lebanon, during which he voiced his concern over the possible spread of the Syrian unrest to Lebanon.
The daily An Nahar reported Sunday that he had called on Hizbullah to withdraw its fighters from Syria out of the concern that the fighting may spread to Lebanon.

Efforts to extend the term of the current parliament are beginning to emerge, reported the daily An Nahar on Sunday.
Informed political sources told the daily that Speaker Nabih Berri and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat are leading these attempts in order to avoid a political vacuum in Lebanon given the failure to reach an agreement over a new parliamentary electoral law.

Khouzai Najib Hatoum was found dead in his car on Saturday after receiving two gunshots in the neck, the state-run National News Agency reported.
“The body of Hatoum was discovered in his gray Kia Picanto on the Falougha-Metn road that leads to (the Mountain region of) Hammana,” the NNA detailed.
Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour confirmed the death of a Lebanese citizen in Nigeria on Saturday, the state-run National News agency reported.
“Adel Jamil Bejjani was beaten to death by unidentified men during a robbery operation,” he told NNA.

Fighters loyal to Hizbullah were killed on Saturday in battles near the Lebanese border around al-Qusayr, according to activists.
The Local Coordination Committees in Syria reported that six members of Hizbullah were killed in battles in Reef al-Qusayr in Homs.

Sheikh Abbas Zgheib, who has been tasked by the Higher Islamic Shiite Council to follow up the case of the abducted Lebanese pilgrims, called on Saturday on Iran to exert efforts to free the nine men.
“We briefed the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon (Ghazanfar Roknabadi) on our endeavors and urged him to call on his country to resolve the case,” Zgheib told reporters after talks with the Iranian diplomat.

The Lebanese army said Saturday that it has arrested two people for check scam and fraud, and raided a depot in the Shouf district with three stolen vehicles in it.
After receiving several complaints of scam operations, a military intelligence patrol arrested Issam Saadallah Daher, a Lebanese, and Syrian Omar Abbas on April 23 and 25, an army communique said.
