Suleiman Traveling to France Soon for Talks with Hollande

President Michel Suleiman is expected to travel to France at the end of June or in early July to hold talks with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, reported the daily An Nahar on Thursday.

It said that the visit will serve as an opportunity for the president to mark a new beginning of Lebanese-French ties, which was suggested by Hollande himself.

Protesters Block Roads around al-Nour Square Demanding Release of Islamists

A number of young men on Wednesday blocked all the roads leading to Tripoli’s al-Nour Square to demand the release of the rest of the Islamist prisoners, after authorities freed seven Lebanese Islamists on Tuesday and two Palestinian Islamists on Wednesday.

The city center was witnessing severe traffic jam as a result of the move, state-run National News Agency reported.

Miqati Meets Ban in Brazil, Says Govt. Striving to Preserve Stability

Prime Minister Najib Miqati met Wednesday in Brazil with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon who, according to a statement issued by Miqati’s office, voiced his support for the government in maintaining stability and praised its efforts to help the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

NGO: Lebanon Palestinians Face Region's Worst Conditions

The living conditions of Palestinians in Lebanon's camps are the worst in the region, an international NGO working in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan said on Wednesday.

"The Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon are considered the worst of the region’s refugee camps in terms of poverty, health, education and living conditions," said the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) in a report released on World Refugee Day.

Geagea Says Govt. Left Army Alone in Face of Security Incidents

Lebanese Forces Leader Samir Geagea said Wednesday that the “government is leaving the army without a policy or plan to confront security events,” adding that Energy Minister Jebran Bassil “should resign if he cannot address the electricity issue.”

At a press conference held in Maarab, Geagea said that “the electricity shortage is unacceptable and Lebanon did not witness such a blackout in all areas, even during war.”

March 14: Army Must Present List of Syrian Violations to Lebanese, International Communities

The March 14 General Secretariat slammed on Wednesday the ongoing Syrian violations of Lebanese sovereignty, saying that it has counted over 20 of such violations.

It urged in a statement after its weekly meeting “the Lebanese army to comprise a list of the violations and present them to the Lebanese and international communities.”
