French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is scheduled to arrive in Lebanon on Thursday on a two-day trip where he will meet with senior officials, reported the daily al-Mustaqbal on Sunday.

It said that the Syrian developments will be at the center of his discussions, with the French minister stressing the need for Lebanon to provide aid to Syrian refugees despite the Lebanese government’s policy of distancing itself from the events in its neighboring country.

The head of the Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc MP Fouad Saniora is scheduled to hold talks on Monday with President Michel Suleiman to inform him of the March 14 camp’s position on the national dialogue, reported the daily An Nahar on Sunday.

It said that the former premier will likely inform the president of the camp’s ongoing boycott of the dialogue, which is set to resume on Thursday.

Several youths stormed al-Horj main electricity station in Beirut on Saturday, Electricity du Liban said in a statement.

“The youths smashed some equipment and intended to burn tires in the premises of the station,” the statement said.

The army deployed on Saturday in Akkar along the Lebanese-Syrian border to restore calm in the area, warning that it will not tolerate with anyone tampering with the country’s stability and security.

“An army unit deployed in the towns of Akroum and Beit Jaafar to separate the gunmen,” the army’s communiqué said.

The results of the middle school official exams, Brevet (BR), were announced on Saturday afternoon for Beirut, the South, Nabatiyeh and the North.

The results for the rest of the districts, Mount Lebanon and the Bekaa, are set to be announced on Monday.

Internal Security Forces chief Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi praised the intelligence branch for exposing the terrorist plot that was targeting the country, describing it as its “masterpiece.”

“The efforts exerted (by the intelligence branch) exposed a terrorist plot aiming at carrying out assassination in the north,” Rifi said in a statement.

Dozens of people demonstrated outside the law courts in Beirut on Saturday to protest the use of anal "tests" on men suspected of homosexuality, which is a criminal offence.

The rally followed a July 28 police raid on a gay venue in a working class district of Beirut when 36 men were taken into custody and forced to undergo the examinations, reportedly to determine their sexual orientation.

His comment came during talks with Rifi and al-Hassan at Beiteddine palace.

Government deputy Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Sami Sader charged on Saturday ex-Information Minister Michel Samaha and Syrian security Chief Maj. Gen. Ali Mamlouk with forming a group to commit crimes in Lebanon.

The two were also charged with plotting to assassinate political and religious figures.
