Internal Security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs into Roumieh prison on Saturday.
A Lebanese citizen F.A., 27-year-old, tried to smuggle drugs into Roumieh prison bloc B, a statement issued by the ISF said.

Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel said on Saturday that the March 14-led opposition supporters’ victory in the Students elections at Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU) is a model of democracy and an achievement for Lebanon.
“This is additional evidence that the Lebanese youth know exactly what future they want for their kids,” Gemayel said during a meeting with a delegation from the Phalange party students at the NDU.

The army condemned on Saturday some media reports that said that army trucks had entered Syrian territory and some “foreign political powers’ interpretation of this development as a sign of the army’s interference in the ongoing events in Syria.
It said in a statement: “The Lebanese army trucks’ entry to Syrian territory is normal and it happens from time to time.”

Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas stated that the chances of resolving the dispute over wages are high if all sides are honest in their dealing with the file.

Security forces have launched a campaign of arrests against wanted suspects in Dahiyeh, Beirut’s southern suburbs, a concerned source told As Safir newspaper in remarks published on Saturday.
It explained that the campaign, which was launched about a month ago, enjoys the support of Hizbullah, AMAL, and residents of the area.

The United Nations Security Council will have to “confront” the issue of the funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon if the government fails to do so, reported the daily An Nahar on Saturday.
A western diplomatic source told the daily that the Security Council has not reached that point yet.

Speaker Nabih Berri has not coordinated his call for dialogue with the Hizbullah leadership, revealed sources close to the party to the daily An Nahar Saturday.
They noted that it appears that Berri had taken it upon himself to issue the call for dialogue, “which he has the right to, especially since the region is witnessing several important developments.”

Speaker Nabih Berri revealed on Friday that he will once again propose to President Michel Suleiman the resumption of the national dialogue.
He told al-Manar television: “The dialogue is necessary for not just internal reasons, but external ones as well.”

Scores of students belonging to the Phalange Party on Friday blocked the Zouk Mosbeh-Jeita highway to protest the army’s arrest of three of their comrades who were using fireworks to celebrate their victory in student elections at the Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU), state-run National News Agency reported.
The road was reopened a few hours later after the army released the detained students, NNA said.
