Mahfoud: Hizbullah Seeks a President to Cover Up for its Military Activities

March 14 general-secretariat member Elie Mahfoud said on Saturday that Hizbullah is seeking to bring a president who provides coverage for its security activities inside and outside Lebanon, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.

“Hizbullah is seeking to bring a Maronite to the post of the presidency who guarantees the safe return of its militias from Syria and, covers its security and military activities in Lebanon and outside the border,” he told NNA.

Harb: Electing Aoun Will Drive Lebanon to Negativity

Telecommunications Minister Butros Harb said on Saturday that it is not in al-Mustaqbal Movement ex-PM Saad Hariri's interest to nominate MP Michel Aoun for the presidency, as he pointed out that it would lead the country to “negativity.”

ISF Arrest Drug Dealer in Nahr el-Mot

The Internal Security Forces arrested a man in the Nahr el-Mot area near Beirut, for the possession of drugs and for allegedly planning to smuggle them into a juvenile prison, an ISF statement said on Saturday.

“On Friday 29/9/2016 a police patrol in Mount Lebanon busted Lebanese Aa.M., 1995, who was caught with amounts of hashish, two envelopes of Salvia divinorum, one envelope of cocaine, a Samsung mobile, Nokia mobile, LL 2,440,000 and $1600,” an ISF statement said on Saturday.
