Defense Minister Yaacoub al-Sarraf emphasized on Monday that campaigns against the Lebanese army will not discourage the apparatus from carrying out its duties and cracking down on terrorists and militants.

Syria airstrikes at dawn on Monday targeted positions of al-Nusra Front militant group in the northeastern border town of Arsal, the National News Agency reported.

Two explosive bombs targeting army troops blew up at dawn on Friday in the northeastern border town of Arsal, LBCI reported.

The bombs exploded and another was dismantled by the security forces in the Arsal neighborhood of al-Jamalah, it added.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed that allies of the Syrian regime must pressure the regime into securing safe zones in Syria for the displaced to return back home, and assured that Lebanon will block any attempt aiming to turn settlements camps into terror havens.

“Let them exert pressure on the regime to facilitate the establishment of secure areas on the Syrian side of the border,” said Hariri reportedly referring to Hizbullah without naming the party.

The websites of Lebanon's state government agencies were hacked on Friday with postings professing support for Syrian refugees and slamming the country's military and security agencies after the crackdown on militants in encampments of displaced Syrians.

Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra lashed out at Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali's “interference in inter-Lebanese” dialogue revolving around the return of displaced Syrians, and said that he must be “summoned” over his remarks, al-Joumhouria daily reported on Friday.

Foreign ministers of the Saudi-led bloc that imposed an embargo on Qatar said Wednesday they regretted the emirate's "negative" response to a list of demands to end a diplomatic crisis.

The ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates "regret the negative response from Qatar," they said, in a statement read out by Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry, after meeting in Cairo.
