Israel launched airstrikes on Syrian army posts in Quneitra after several projectiles fired from Syria landed in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights for a second consecutive day.

Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea criticized Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's Friday remarks about Gulf countries, and pointed out that the cabinet is the eligible authority to tackle Israel's threats against Lebanon as he assured that Lebanon's border will not be opened for foreign fighters.

A male suspect identified as Walid Obeid has been arrested on Saturday for the murder of Maroun Nohra who was killed in the southern town of Majdelyoun two days ago, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.

Members from the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch arrested the suspect in the Bekaa valley, NNA said.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri condemned on Saturday the terror attempt to target the Mecca Mosque in Saudi Arabia describing it as a “crime against Islam and Muslims.”

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during his visit to Moscow on Friday and said that the safe zones conducted by Russia in Syria may help Lebanon solve the issue of refugees, media reports said.

“It is possible that the success of creating safe zones will allow the return of some displaced people and Syrian refugees who currently live in our country, Jordan and Turkey. So, the problem of the Syrian refugees could be partially solved but a political solution for the crisis is necessary,” said Jumblat during his meeting with Lavrov, the first between the two men in two years.

Hizbullah on Saturday condemned what it described as a “shameful bid” to target the Mecca Mosque in Saudi Arabia, the party said in a statement.

Hizbullah denounces the "disgraceful attempt to target the sacred Mosque in Mecca by a group belonging to takfiri and terror gangs which practice killing and shed blood without any hindrance,” read the statement.

The Lebanese army arrested two prominent arms dealers in the northeastern border town of Arsal, media reports said on Friday.

Early today, the army launched raids on the place of residence of a suspect identified as Bachir al-Hujeiri. He was arrested amid heavy gunfire.

Ex-PM Najib Miqati hailed on Friday the outcome of the Baabda consultative meeting that convened a day earlier at the invitation of President Michel Aoun, the National News Agency reported on Friday.

“We highly appreciate the outcome of the meeting held at the presidential palace which emphasized the implementation of the National Accord document (Taef Agreement). We continue to emphasize the need to implement the constitution in full in order to demonstrate the pros and cons and then hold a national workshop to discuss what must be amended in light of experience and practice,” said Miqati in a statement.

In coordinated efforts between Lebanese and Saudi authorities, an attempt to smuggle 6 million pills of Captagon has been thwarted, the Internal Security forces said in a statement on Thursday.

“In pursuit of international networks involved in the manufacture and smuggling of Captagon pills, and as a result of follow-up by the Central Anti-Drug Bureau of the Judicial Police Unit and in close coordination with the competent security authorities in Saudi Arabia, an attempt to smuggle a massive amount of Captagon has been foiled,” an ISF statement said.
