Report: New Govt. Solution Seeks to Appoint Karami, 'Compensate' for Hariri

Part of a suggestion to form a Cabinet of 32 ministers instead of 30, was to allocate a ministerial seat from President Michel Aoun’s share to Independent Sunni MP Faisal Karami, and to let Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri name the two extra ministers, the pan-Arab al-Hayat daily reported on Thursday.

A reliable source told the daily the proposal -aiming to ease the government formation gridlock-- calls for “naming Karami instead of the latter’s candidate Fadi al-Asayli, and that Hariri be given the right to name the two extra ministers (a Alawite and a Christian minority minister) in compensation for accepting the appointment of Karami,” he said.

Israeli Spokesperson Addresses PM in Tweet about Hizbullah

Israeli army Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee said in remarks he addressed to Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri on Twitter that “Hizbullah is still lying to you and to the Lebanese.”

“You have said these things about (UN) Resolution 1701 long ago. We truly want to believe you, but the problem is that Hizbullah is still lying to you and to the Lebanese,” said Adraee.

Israel Launches Air Balloon with Spy Camera over Mays al-Jabal

The Israeli army launched on Wednesday an air balloon with surveillance cameras from one of its military positions opposite the area of Kroum al-Sharaqi- Mays al-Jabal, in the district of Marjayoun, the National News Agency reported on Wednesday.

NNA added that Israeli troops have also installed a surveillance camera, over the cement separation wall between Lebanon and occupied Palestine, in the area of al-Abbara near Kfarkila.

Fire Razes 50 Refugees' Tents, Kills Two Syrians in Baalbek

Fire has swept through the tents of Syrian refugees in the northeastern town of al-Yammouneh at dawn leaving two killed and several others wounded, the National News Agency reported on Monday.

Two Syrian refugees identified by their initials as Aa.M. and W.Aa were killed after the fire razed through around 50 resettlement tents, said NNA.
