Arab League Delegation to Press Members for Palestinian aid

Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo on Sunday agreed to form a delegation to visit Arab capitals and ask for help in easing the Palestinian financial crisis, the pan-Arab body said.

The delegation will comprise Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayyad, Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi as well as the foreign ministers of Iraq and Lebanon.

Israel Forces Palestinian Protesters from Settlement Site

Israeli police backed by bulldozers early Sunday evicted Palestinian protesters from a hilltop camp they set up in a West Bank area slated for Jewish settlement, witnesses said.

About 200 Palestinian activists set up the camp, named Bab al-Shams (Gate of the Sun in Arabic), on Friday in the controversial E1 area between Israeli annexed east Jerusalem and the settlement of Maaleh Adumim.

Israel Orders Palestinians to Quit Protest Outpost

More than 200 Palestinian activists were on Saturday evening refusing to leave a protest camp they set up in part of the occupied West Bank where Israel wants to build new settler homes, despite a threat to evict them.

"Members of the Israeli Civil (military) Administration told us this morning that we have one hour to evacuate the site," one of the organizers, Abir Copty, told AFP.

Catholic Bishops Slam Israel's West Bank Barrier

A delegation of Roman Catholic bishops from Europe and North America pledged on Thursday to press their governments to act against the "injustice" of Israel's West Bank separation barrier.

During a three-day trip ending on Thursday, the eight prelates visited Christian congregations in the Gaza Strip, Bethlehem, the West Bank town of Beit Jalla and Madaba and Zarqa, in neighboring Jordan.

Netanyahu: Hamas Talks Show Abbas not Seeking Peace

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's latest reconciliation talks with exiled Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal are not the act of a man seeking peace with Israel.

Israel Legalizes 'Wildcat Settler Outpost

Israel has quietly "legalized" an unauthorized settlement outpost in the West Bank, the Peace Now settlement watchdog said on Wednesday, in the sixth such move within a year.

Peace Now's Hagit Ofran said the move to legalize the Nofei Nehemia outpost, south of the Palestinian city of Nablus, was taken "a few days ago" in contravention of Israel's commitments under the Middle East peace roadmap.

Pro-Damascus Palestinian groups in Syria said on Tuesday that Yarmuk camp in the south of the capital must be "demilitarized", and called on Palestinian factions to help refugees who fled camp violence to return home.

Violence has struck several refugee camps since March 2011, when the revolt erupted in Syria, which is home to some 490,000 Palestinians.
