Efforts to adopt the initiative to end the political and presidential deadlock in Lebanon, which was proposed by Mustaqbal Movement leader MP Saad Hariri, will be postponed to the new year as various ambassadors in Lebanon prepare to head on vacation for the upcoming holidays, reported al-Joumhouria newspaper on Tuesday.

French, American, and Saudi Arabian diplomatic contacts in recent days “concluded that the manner in which Hariri's initiative was unveiled was flawed,” said the daily.

Head of al-Mustaqbal movement MP Saad Hariri stated on Thursday after his meeting with French President Francois Hollande that “political sacrifices need to be made” to address the presidential deadlock.

“No doubt there are some political sacrifices that we need to make. Lebanon is more important than all of us,” said Hariri after a meeting that gathered the two men at the Elysee Palace.

The French presidency confirmed Wednesday evening that French President Francois Hollande will meet al-Mustaqbal movement leader ex-PM Saad Hariri on Thursday in Paris.

The Elysee Palace meeting will take place at 10:30 am, the presidency said in a statement.
