le phenicien, on this one even i will give you a thumbs down...
the song is pretty cute if i may call it that, no insults against the president, just the expression of certain hopes and certain deceptions.
the only thing against the president is actually the last three words "general go home!" which come as a counterbalancing of the rest of the song saying "general suleyman you're a miracle man"...
anyway, a country where a singer cannot sing his mind (especially when it is a million times more polite and civil than most comments on this site for instance) is not the country i want for myself and fellow citizens.
Zeid Hamdan has been arrested for defamation, because of his song 'General Suleiman' which criticized corruption, militia, foreign interference in lebanon
The video has been on YouTube for around 1 year. At the end of this song, Zeid uses the phrase, 'go home General Suleiman'.
The maximum sentence for defamation is 2 years in jail under law numbers 384 and 386.
Zeid was questioned on 20 july and 21 july.
This arrest hurts freedom of art and opinion and expression in Lebanon and reveals how authorities discard personal freedom.
What makes it really regrettable is that it happened in Lebanon at a time when we see revolutions in different Arab countries, to remove the holy status of Arab presidents and give back honor to Arab citizens.
Following what we have said, we ask the public to take a stand to defend the republic's freedom in Lebanon.

danny-b, who crossed the border? if your troops had only taken note of the warning shots and retreated back to their border there would be no news to talk about. but no, they retreated and then fired back as if they felt they needed to prove something.
hahahaha geagea the ally? rofl, or maybe is he speaking on behalf of Aoun ? or Berri?
shut up samir, go ask the americans to let you take part in their strategic decisions, or maybe it's enough for you to just take orders?
Dear "Myself", you got to understand another simple thing too. We Lebanese are no pussycats either, and it's not a coincidence that israel repeatedly lost all the wars it started against us.
Indeed those wars cost us dearly, that's what happens when a terrorist country gets shiploads of WMDs and ammunitions + cover at the UN from big brother USA, but it could have been worse, we could have ended up like Palestine, eaten alive by colon cancer.
As for Iran, they never fired a single bullet at my country, let alone use phosphorus on my fellow countrymen, and instead they supported us in the darkest days when the whole world turned a blind eye on the occupation of South Lebanon and massacres and abuses like in Khiam and Qana to only name these two.
So, if you want a second round, come and get it. We never chickened out when we were weak and unarmed, we're defo not going to chicken out now that we have the capacity to shut down all your major towns.
@Ado: totally, and we all remember israeli troops opening fire on unarmed Palestinian protesters killing and wounding scores of them, just because they got neear the border, not even crossed it. Those jewish supremacist really think they are some sort of superior race, some people chosen by god knows who to do god knows what, so they can kill hundreds as "preventive measures" but we can't fire warning shots, coz, you know, they're so chosen
