show up in a local american district court? la chou? meen fadilon and their joke tribunals? they are making fools out of themselves and pursuing the illusion that they rule and judge the world. i wait to see the george bushes, father and son, tried for 2 million dead in iraq, then we can talk about justice. as long as they commit humongous crimes with no accountability, their justice does not concern us.
unacceptable blackmail by gas stations and oil companies. why would gas station take an additional 500LL per 20 liters? arent they making enough already?
hold strong Bassil, even while they insult you and try to drag your name in the mud, because you're defending the modest people's rights against the greedy oil companies and stations.
lightleb, are you kidding or are you just slow? oil reserves are finite, and the cost of extraction/refining is more or less constant. if a company has reserves of X million barrels, they rather sell them at a high price. Consumption will be lower, naturally, but low sensitivity means that an increase of say 20% in price will result in maybe 10% less consumption. Total sales still increase and profit greatly increases.
Even if you add 5000LL to oil prices today, people will still go to fill their tanks because they will still need to go to work and move around & generators still require gas. They might skip an occasional weekend trip to the day3a, if their budget is really tight, but this is the marginal decrease.
With base necessity products, especially when they are controlled by small oligopolies, the government has to regulate or else market prices go crazy.
"Every economical study on this field shows the opposite." please link me to these, as i doubt any serious study would show that.
plus any reduction of use of cars would be complicated by the fact that we have no proper public transportation system. if we had trains and tramways and proper buses, then people might substitute their cars with that. but it's not even the case here.
besides, in europe what they did to favor less fuel consuming cars is a variable tax linked to the car's consumption (the écobonus/écomalus system in france for instance)
pfiou, it's really a waste of time trying to explain anything to you guys. so yea think whatever you want, and according to you the oil companies went on strike to ask for a price raise they do not want. it makes a lot of sense :)
