yea geha, it definitely takes more time to ask yourself questions and try to use your head a little. i agree, the fastest way is to jump to whichever conclusion your crystal ball and your bias suggest.
what ISF is asking for is full unrestrained access, meaning they have the whole country under limitless surveillance, where you go, who you talk to, what you say, etc... this would give them the key to full control on everyone.
i'm not worried about my phone calls, i'm worried about the abuse of power and political utilization that will be made easy from such move.
there is a system in place today that allows investigations but with a judicial check, i don't want a one-man-show rifi running the country.
he was tried* and imprisoned but not for the massacres and assassinations he committed, nor for his treasons, so don't try to find excuses for him "because it's been a while". there is no prescription of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
ps: 350 killed were mainly foreign troops allied to our invading enemy (american GIs allied to invading israel -1982- in case you're confused) but it seems the "patriot" that you are cannot distinguish that, and our right to self-defense, from "terrorism". you speak like a pentagon or knesset spokesperson, haram 3leik
slash, you misunderstood what i am saying! i'm telling you i'm not worried about myself or for the average honest Lebanese man (at least for now) but more the political impact. this would mean rifi can listen to all conversations that, for example, aoun has with bassil, or what joumblat is telling his men, or conversations between geagea and hariri, you name it. what they are asking for is direct unrestricted access, meaning all scenarios become possible and there is no transparency whatsoever. as long as we have powers and counter-powers things can still be under control/balanced, but if they get one-man-show powers then there's no limits to where it can go.
slash wtf are you talking about? wake up man, you seriously saying rifi or anyone else for that matter should be allowed to tap into all politicians conversations? be real or drop it and think what you want, I thought we were having a reasonably rational convo here, but it seems you're answering just to answer..
slash in any other country police needs a warrant before tapping into any phone conversation, so you're kind of speaking against yourself.
also the 20 politicians were killed under sanioura/hariri's era, and at that time there is no doubt rifi could have had whatever he wanted. if he was unwilling and/or inefficient then, why should he be given exceptional powers now?
Opposition: Sehnaoui Responsible for Protecting Assassins by Blocking Telecom Data
