Read this story in English W460

M14 were never allowed to govern alone. Those 7 years you speak about we're always with a forced veto power to m8. And still if you study the number (economy) of those years and compare them to the years m8 had a free hand all alone, you will see a world of difference. And m8 need to stop putting the blame on mikati who THEY nominated.

Arzak, they are all a bunch of spoiled kids that act out when they don't get what they want!
M14 are thankful that there was the M8 veto power to blame otherwise they would have grovelled among each other and ended up with no work done and no one to blame for their incompetence.
like M8 now, they have the power to themselves but they don't know what to do with it so they fight one another. (example: Aoun Vs Berri every now and then)
They are all the same with minor differences:
M14 controls the economy through their Khalijeh benefactors while M8 controls the security through their Persian benefactors
They say "Lebanon first" but in fact its "my pockets first", and whenever there is someone that truly loves his/her country and doesn't want to be in-line with their business they either destroy them politically (example Mr. Baroud) or they assassinate them (example Mr. kassir)

While I fully agree with nearly everything you said. I was referring to m14 never being able to govern alone. You make an assumption that they were thankful for the veto. But at the end of the day that is just an assumption. While I hope we can have a cabinet full of barouds. And those who truly work for Lebanon are always eliminated. The fact remains that m14 were better for the average joe than m8. Allah ywa3eena to change all our politicians. But I'm not holding my breath.

Ok, why give the VETO power in the first place??
scared of some boom sticks? then they don't have a backbone and not fit to rule...
they don't want to cut out half the population's representatives from the decision making?? well sorry that's political stupidity and they are not fit to rule...
Lebanon's economy is controlled by tourism, right? we've had that crammed down our throats since as far back as we can remember, alas the Europeans don't so much as glimpse in our direction anymore, there are the oil rich abstinent khalijehs, and their influx depends on who controls the cabinet, Lebanon's economy now is in the toilet simply because M14 doesn't want to play nice, no more than M8 has played nice back then... which brings me to: they are both not fit to rule!

moral of the story is, they are both worthless on their own, I see 3 solutions:
1) one of them backs down "highly unlikely"
2) they make up, hold hands and work for the good of Lebanon together "highly unlikely, there is too much hate to be resolved overnight"
3) they step aside "highly unlikely, no one has enough courage or support to make them step aside, refer to nazl al sourour's (awal wa7ad byemshee ana bemshee warra speach)"

Yeah, great proposal give them both veto power so that as usual nothing will done. With out a technocratic government things will remain as they are and the only ones that benefit from that is the Glorious Axis and it's paid lackeys.

Ya Mr Abu Faour stop trying to defend the undefendable.Your boss has shown us time and again that he is someone with no principles, a back stabber and an unreliable ally no matter which camp he's allied to.Drop this flimsy broken record of an excuse that he's concerned with national stability. All he cares about is his little canton, his piece of the cake and making sure that Taymour, the crown prince, takes over after he's dead and buried!!

veto, 2 vetoes, no veto, what is the difference? in all cases the opposition will always block one way or another the gvt is the policy does not suit them...
i wonder why lebanon still holds elections as NO ONE seems to respect the results! LOL
