yes, i know they are cornered but then again, we rely too much on other countries to clean the mess in our land. shouldn't we seek to constitute our high tech arsenal to counter their terrorism?
Everyone is happy now that Bachar is weak, especially israel. replacing hi; by an unknown regime is too risky for them. as of Russia, they loaned so much money/credit to bachar for their weapons it's not even funny. syrians will have to pay the bill whether the terrorist regime remains or not.

to clean the mess in Lebanon there are 2 issues to solve:
- iran
- Syria
if not solved these issues will constantly disrupt any positive change.
now if iran complies with the agreement it would solve the whole problem peacefully, otherwise it will be a major war.
such a war will not even need us to participate in it as all countries will be involved.
as for Russia:
you are correct, but the agreed outcome is the new regime will be a mixture between the old one and the opposition, excluding controversial figures, thus guaranteeing the exclusion of etremists.
Russia will still be paid by iran :)

We know the entire UN Security Council (US, UK, France, China and Russia)wants a Syria free of Nusra and Qaeda as they are all afraid of the "blowback" of such an outcome.

Russia has the Caucasus problem, China the Uighur problem and have already seen partial blowback. It won't be long before the US and the EU see terrorism at home and at embassies around the world.

Russia is telling Assad not to rub defeat in the faces of the P5 or prolong an already catastrophic war that Russia is helping to subsidize for Assad. The US\EU are already pushing back in the Ukraine.
