Disgusting!

If HA doesnt participate in gov no shia would, so we cant keep HA out. Lets stop being unrealistic, we cant fight HA using their tactics. Its time to form a plan that doesnt include storming the sereil, or trying to form a gov alone.

(1).In normal times, it is absolutely perfect to have all parties participate in a government, call it national unity or coalition. But given our current context and in view of the morbid state of political deadlock, it is my well considered opinion that we Lebanese are once again taking the easy way out. After M14 has tried, then followed by the Hezbollah-led M8 alliance, the best way out would have been to finally allow Mr. Salam to form a reduced cabinet of technocrats, professionals that have no ties or subjugation to either alliances, M8 or M14. Such a cabinet would have quickly provided solutions to our now long standing state of inertia and paralysis. The ideal situation would have been one in which neither Ms would meddle with the workings of this proposed cabinet.

(2). Just like Bachir Gemayel said decades ago, we Lebanese are proficient in sweeping our problems under the carpet. So here it is, maybe another reprieve to secure the interests of the parties and their politicians, but certainly one that will stack up one major problem atop the many more. Maybe now we Lebanese must ask ourselves if this is the right way to build a true nation, a nation of real constitutional institutions, institutions that actually work, especially in such trying times. Time will tell how one more wrong turn could have been avoided, by us Lebanese.

(3). Normally, solid constitutional institutions serve primarily in the smooth running of a nation, and even more importantly, as our best safety net in times of trouble. because our politicians have never stopped meddling int he running of the Lebanese state, and this since independence, this vital safety net simply does not exist anymore. As this latest of crippling crisis has proven, we Lebanese no longer have any safety net to help us constitutionally solve such a problem. As usual, now even worse in 2014 than any other time in our history, we the Lebanese People simply have NO say whatsoever in the decision making procedures of our nation's fate. Just like they did back then in 1943, it was the politicians that decided how and where we will go, they have once again shown that we Lebanese are simply muted bystanders devoid of any capacity. We're just consumers, buy and don't ask questions, that simple.

(4). Now that we're talking of 1943, it brings to mind what my late grandpa used to tell me and repeated by my own dad, "how much I wished we stayed under French rule" they used to say, "we never supported what Pierre Gemayel, Chamoun, Salam and the other pro-independence leaders did"....., I still remember their words, now that I'm thinking about it, I ask, were they wrong in what they said or were they spot on right? 2014, what if we stayed under French dominion, as part of French territory, would it not have been a million times better for us Lebanese, all of us? Would we have gone through so many wars, battles, massacres, occupation and now even worse, occupation by a Lebanese party? Would our economy not been a lot better, especially now our being part of the EU? Would we have needed to queue on end at foreign embassies and undergo the utter humiliation to apply for visas? Would our youth have the be drained from us for lack of jobs?

(5). Would we have all the dumps we now have and so frequently? Sure, we are Independent, or so we are made to believe, but then I ask, are we really independent or is it just a word, another senseless word in a dictionary now so foreign to us? Now that I think of it, I understand how my old man and my grand made sense. I know of several Shiite families who are till now, living under the care of the French state, Caisse Sociale etc.. and etc...and why? because their dad fought in the Legion Etrangere during WW2. After the war, he was given French nationality, and from there his wife and his children and now his grandchildren. During our war in 2006, the French took them out of Lebanon to France where they stayed for a year when they decided to return back to Lebanon, not a hair of theirs was touched. Some of his children now live and work in France, feel happy and secure, is it something we Lebanese, yes, we so-called independent Lebanese can boast of?
