سيلفرمان: لبنان بحاجة لقيادة "مسؤولة" والتحدي الأساسي بانتخاب رئيس للبلاد

أكد نائب مساعدة وزير الخارجية لشؤون الشرق الاوسط لورنس سيلفرمان ان "لبنان يحتاج في هذه المرحلة الى قيادة مسؤولة تعالج التحديات"، معتبراً أن " التحدي السياسي في لبنان هو انتخاب رئيس للجمهورية".
ونقلت صحيفة "النهار" الأربعاء،عن سيلفرمان تأكيده أن " التحدي السياسي في لبنان هو انتخاب رئيس للبلاد"، مضيفاً أن "الحكومة أوضحت لجميع المعنيين بالامر موقفها القوي من اجراء الانتخابات في موعدها".
وأمل ألا يصل لبنان الى الفراغ في المنصب الرئاسي، و"هو أعلى منصب للمسيحيين في البلاد".
ورأى سيلفرمان ان "الاخفاق في انتخاب رئيس قد يقوض الزخم الذي أوجده تشكيل الحكومة ذات الصلاحيات الكاملة".
وأوضح أنه في هذه المرحلة الحرجة يحتاج لبنان الى "قيادة مسؤولة تعالج التحديات" التي يواجهها وتكون قادرة على تنفيذ تعهداته الدولية.
يُذكر انه في 25 آذار بدأت المهلة الدستورية لانتخاب رئيس جديد خلفا للرئيس ميشال سليمان الذي تنتهي ولايته في 25 أيار المقبل، الذي يرفض التمديد له.
ورئيس "حزب القوات اللبنانية" سمير جعجع هو أول من أعلن ترشحه للرئاسة، في حين أن قوى 14 آذار لم تعلن مرشحها بعد، كذلك، قوى 8 آذار.

@helicopter, sorry it seems the US (my government btw) is more interested in making nice with Iran at all costs rather than do what it right by Lebanon. It seems every time the US makes a deal with any of its foes, it is always at the expense of Lebanon's interest. I have concluded, the US is not a friend or a foe of Lebanon but that its interest is always in direct conflict with Lebanon's interest. What a sad sad situation but the sooner those living in Lebanon understand that Lebanon's interest is in direct conflict with every country in the region the sooner they will rise. The US is poised to let HA run amok indefinitely in order to get what it wants from Iran. Politics are the mother of all evil. Name one country that would like to see Lebanon prosper...I bet you can't. You know why? Coz a prosperous Lebanon means a disastrous Israel and all gulf states.
