كتلة "القوات" تشكر النواب على ثقتهم: سنستمر بالمعركة الديمقراطية

أعربت كتلة "القوات" النيابية في بيان لها الخميس، عن "شكرها جميع النواب الذين انتخبوا رئيس الحزب سمير جعجع في جلسة الأربعاء.
وشددت الكتلة على تقديرها "جميع النواب للثقة الغالية التي منحوها لجعجع مرشحاً لرئاسة الجمهورية".
وأكدت أن "هذه الثقة تمثل مسؤولية كبيرة ودافعاً أساسياً للإستمرار في خوض المعركة الديموقراطية وصولاً إلى تحقيق الأهداف الوطنية التي نصبو إليها جميعاً".
يشار الى أن النواب فشلوا في انتخاب رئيس جديد للجمهورية في الدورة الاولى للجلسة الانتخابية، الأأربعاء، حيث المعركة تركزت بين مرشح 14 آذار، رئيس "حزب القوات اللبنانية" سمير جعجع، ومرشح "اللقاء الديمقراطي" النائب هنري حلو، و"الورقة البيضاء".
ومع فرز أصوات النواب الـ124 الذين حضروا الجلسة الانتخابية، فازت "الورقة البيضاء" بـ52 صوتاً، مقابل 48 لجعجع و16 لحلو وصوت واحد لرئيس "حزب الكتائب" أمين الجميل. في حين تم الغاء 7 أصوات.
ودعا رئيس مجلس النواب نبيه بري الى جلسة انتخاب الأربعاء المقبل.

Southern, from the beginning Geagea had no hopes of getting elected, just like his arch-foe Aoun, Geagea is too divisive due to his belonging to M14 and because of his belonging to a party that resisted the Syrian occupation for so long. People like Geagea and Aoun have seen their knives' edges smoothed by times, they don't cut it anymore. Now that the dynamics of parliament have cleared it by process of elimination, the time has come for a candidate that is different, that is accepted by all sides. Whether we like it or not, a consensual person is still the best suited for our times, then why not a technocrat instead of an old timer? But the secret lays in the fact that when that person stands his ground, that he doesn't get bedeviled by either side too.

Why is it weakened ?
Quite the contrary. The only one weakened is M8 who failed to produce a candidate and Michel Aoun who was humiliated because his partners don't even support his candidacy.
Common ground candidate or consensus candidate means a WEAK candidate that Hezbollah can threaten and manipulate.
We won't accept that !
Only a candidate that struggles to reestablish Lebanon's sovereignty that Hezbollah sold back to Syria and Iran can succeed !
We fought with our lives to gain our sovereignty ! Real Martyrs have given their lives for the freedoms you enjoy today ! And this is not to piss it all away and bring back dictatorship to lebanon !

@southern : If you want to abolish sectarianism, then start by abolishing your Shiite Army !
@Roar : a 10 point plan is much better than no plan at all. Don't get me wrong. I'm not happy with Geagea as a president but at least he's doing things right... no other politicians is doing the same. Especially not Aoun who is like a spoiled kid who doesns't want to play with the others because they did not crown him king. He has to deserve it !

Roar I agree with you over the fact that Aoun has not announced his candidacy, so yes, I believe I owe you a clarification. My relating to the general is purely on comparative basis, that even if he were to consider the post, at least I am speaking on my behalf, it would be best that Aoun leaves the post for the new generation. About working with the Syrians, here I believe my dear brother that literally everyone at one time or the other dined at their table.

I'm also talking about the Martyrs who have given their lives to put an end to SYRIAN domination of Lebanon. Worst than the french and the ottomans.
The same Syrian domination Hezbollah is trying to bring back and protect !
Those are the true heroes of Lebanon. Those who fought not with weapons but with their voices and words.
The biggest revolution and resistance in Lebanon's history happened on March 14 and our country was freed from Syrian influence without a single drop of blood. Hezbollah with all their might and weapons cannot even match this. In fact, they fought violently to keep the Syrian presence in the country !

@FT, I don't know what's worst :
- a convicted criminal applying for presidency
- convicted criminals voting for presidents
- political parties harbouring criminals, assassins and terrorists being allowed to participate in the electoral process at all
Geagea and all his crimes to not even amount to the horrors commited by Hezbollah throughout their history.
Yet, you seem to pardon Hezbollah, no problem. In fact, you defend them.
When they are all the same criminals !
