Dahiyeh , Rouweisset el Matn, Britel are under-populated regions with only about one million two thousands residents. They are resisting Israel and should not pay electricity fees; they even should not allow any official to request electricity fees from them. Better to make compromises othwerise they will place bombs in public places to save their rights.

Here are a couple of things to be considered.

a. Every paying subscriber should have 24/7 electricity. So the institution should provide the service, whether they like it or not.

b. None paying subscribers should be banned. This is not a political matter, but a basic need, irrespective of party. But Lebanese political parties have turned it into a political matter for self interest and not national interest.

c. Not only should the issue of electricity be tackled, but also water and all the generators on the streets that provide power to people and has turned into a large business for man.

Lebanon has been out of war for 20 years now and the living conditions are that of progressive nations (developing) when in reality it should have been resolved 15 years ago.

According to official sources, almost 60% of EDL bills are not collected. In addition, close to 50% of electricity generated by EDL is not even billed; it is estimated that tens of thousands of people receive free electricity by illegally tapping into power lines. Back in 2003, then Beirut MP Muhammad Qabbani, who headed the parliamentary Energy and Water Committee, stated that many of those who get free electricity enjoy "political protection." In the southern suburbs of Beirut--a stronghold of Hezbollah--over 80% of electricity consumers do not pay. Those who do not enjoy such political protection, on the other hand, are forced to pay heavily for electricity.

Electricity should've been the #1 priority since the early 90s. Without it you can't advance. How can companies have confidence to expand or to invest if it's unclear if they can guarantee the power will be on 24/7!! What Hariri and gang couldn't do with >$55BILLION is now being done with $1billion....AND THEY DON'T LIKE IT!! who's gona pay their royalties if the private MOTEURS get shut down!!
