أعلن حزب الله الأحد أنه يريد رئيسا لا يكون واجهة للدول الخارجية، مشددا على استمرار الحوار مع تيار "المستقبل" على الرغم من "الخلافات العميقة".
وقال الوكيل الشرعي العام للسيد علي الخامنئي في لبنان الشيخ محمد يزبك خلال احتفال تأبيني في بوداي
"نريد انتخاب رئيس للبنان ولكل اللبنانيين، رئيسا يتحمل مسؤولياته الوطنية، لا يكون شماعة لأي جهة أو دولة كانت ولا أن يكون ألعوبة لتنفيذ مخططات الآخرين".
وشغر منصب الرئاسة منذ 25 أيار الفائت ولم يتمكن مجلس النواب في 21 جلسة من انتخاب خلف للرئيس ميشال سليمان بفعل غياب نواب حزب الله والتيار "الوطني الحر" عن الجلسات.
وفي حديثه ألمح يزبك إلى مرشح الحزب النائب ميشال عون فقال "هناك شخصية قادرة ان تنهض بهذا البلد، ولكن من يصغي إلى الخارج لا يريد انتخاب هذا الرئيس".
من جهته رأى عضو كتلة "الوفاء للمقاومة" النائب علي فياض خلال احتفال تأبيني في بلدة عيناتا الأحد "رغم التصعيد والإساءات التي أطلقت إعلاميا ضدنا، فنحن لا نريد أن تدخل الساحة اللبنانية مجددا في التأزيم والتوتر، بل ثمة حاجة للتهدئة، كما وأننا نتمسك بالحوار لأنه ضرورة لبنانية".
وتصاعدت التصريحات العنيفة من قبل الحزب وتيار "المستقبل" اللذين يجريان حوارا منذ 21 كانون الأول الفائت على خلفية الحملة العسكرية التي تقودها السعودية على الحوثيين في اليمن.
لكن فياض رأى أن وظيفة الحوار "لم تفقد أهميتها رغم الخلافات العميقة تجاه الملفات الإقليمية المفتوحة".
وشدد على أنه "رغم كل هذا الضجيج والأزمات التي تعصف بالمنطقة وما تفرضه من تحديات مختلفة، تبقى عين المقاومة على العدو الإسرائيلي".

You can't claim to be against something, while supporting it in Syria. You are well aware that the Al Nusra front, is the heaviest opposition fighting in Syria, so by being against Assad you are backing Nusra.

The problem is that the Christian political leadership, which is primarily responsible for developing candidates for the presidency, is politically and morally bankrupt. They have sold their respective political movements to regional powers. In exchange for patronage money that is used to pay for political hangers on, web sites and broad cast they have sold the ability of independent decision making. Into the void has flowed political proxies for Iran and KSA, neither of which should make decisions on the issue of the Lebanese Presidency. It will be quite some time, if at all, before we get the next Christian President of Lebanon.

Akkar lived happily under the Ottoman empire by the way, they flourished. The South were always brutally supressed by the Ottoman Turks.
People in Syria, lived well and fed until the Saudi led takfiri war against it.

Yes, I am well aware that there are Christians in Akkar region, just like there are in the South and all over Lebanon. We are a very mixed country don't forget. Must be a reason that the Christian communities in Akkar are arming themselves drastically lately no? there's a system to vote a president in our consitutio. all march 8 has to do is stop boycotting the parliamentary sessions. Its not democracy to boycott parliament until the "opposition" votes for your candidate this contradicts the whole point of our democracy. people vote members of Parliament to represent them and not to vote for an opposing parties candidate the most basic principle of our democratic system.

Hezbollah is indeed very interesting, when I look at those they called presidents, I can only say that they had for themselves the very worst puppets Lebanon ever had. I am now dishonored to call the name of the late Elias Hrwawi and Emile Lahoud, two stooges that literally were hung from the rear trousers of Hezbollah and Syria. Wasn't Elias Hrawi caught live angrily claiming were was his cut? But one brave man Michel Sleyman, full of dignity, full of respect gave Hezbollah and their lapdogs a lesson for life, that not all people wearing army fatigues can be ordered around and this is why this time Hezbollah and their masters are truly weary of having another Michel Sleyman.

Hezbollah is playing the time game for sure, but now obviously they must be coming to fact, that nothing will change the very essence of what Sleyman placed in the Lebanese, that enough is enough. The next president will not be a puppet and that will certainly break the massive wall of hypocrisy put up by Hezbollah. The we have an army on the rise, that too doesn't bode well for anyone who licks Hezbollah's feet or Iran's.
