جلسة متوقعة لمجلس الامن حول الأحداث الاخيرة في لبنان

من المتوقع ان يعقد مجلس الامن جلسة طارئة الاربعاء في شأن لبنان على خلفية ما يشهده البلد من حراك شعبي ضد الحكومة.
نقلت صحيفة "النهار" عن مصدرين ديبلوماسيين في نيويورك أن مجلس الأمن قرر عقد جلسة طارئة اليوم في شأن لبنان.
وأفاد أحدهما أن "هذه الجلسة من خارج جدول أعمال المجلس لشهر أيلول الجاري وهدفها الإستماع الى إحاطة من المنسقة الخاصة للأمم المتحدة في لبنان سيغريد كاغ عن التطورات الأخيرة التي تشهدها البلاد، وخصوصاً لجهة الاحتجاجات الشعبية على فساد الطبقة السياسية".
وستقدم كاغ بحسب المصدرين هذه الإحاطة عبر دائرة تلفزيونية مغلقة من بيروت. ولم يتقرر على الفور ما إذا كان مجلس الأمن سيصدر أي بيان أو موقف من هذه التطورات.
وأكد ديبلوماسي آخر أن الدائرة السياسية لدى الأمانة العامة للأمم المتحدة، والتي يرأسها جيفري فيلتمان، كانت هي الداعية الى هذه الجلسة "لمعرفة أبعاد التحركات الجارية تحت عنوان: طلعت ريحتكم".
الى ذلك، صرّح الناطق بإسم الأمم المتحدة فرحان حق لـ"النهار" بأن "الفراغ مضر بلبنان. هذا هو موقف الأمين العام بان كي - مون.
ولفت الى أن "الأولوية لا تزال للمحافظة على الاستقرار ولانتخاب رئيس جديد للجمهورية".
وأضاف أن "موقف المجتمع الدولي داعم الطابع السلمي للإحتجاجات، مع حماية الجو الديموقراطي وحرية التعبير".

Indeed, but this worries me:
"Another diplomat told the daily that the department headed by U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, who is a former U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, called for Tuesday's session."
Anything that Feltman does cannot be good for Lebanon, if things go his way, I expect them to back the corrupt government and try to find a way for them to survive the crisis.

By the way not since 1990, it is the same political class since the indepence of Lebanon, ok the security council will hear briefing...so what should we be impressed? only the population of this country if united and through perseverance can end the feudal era which through divide and rule practice , corruption , and hidden discrimination brought suffering and misery to the majority of the Lebanese people.
