@Realist. Man you said it perfectly! Why does this guy have to get up and say things like this? Taking Assad down will weaken Hezbollah, maybe so and maybe not, but it only gives Hezbollah cover to intervene more to help Assad. And why would Israel want to encourage Hezbollah to help Assad? That's right, they are all on the same team. Israel needs to remain as a "strategic" relevant ally to the US. To do that, Iran must be seen as an existential threat. For Iran to be an existential threat, it must be on Israel's border, hence the need for Hezbollah. Hezbollah is not credible without Syria, hence the Israeli support for Assad.

Ok, try this on for size? If Hizthrowup had no protection from the Syrian regime, they would kind of have to fight like a cornered dog and take control of Lebanon -or- send it's killers into Syria to protect its' protector via Iran. You smell what I'm stepping in here? Opening up two fronts in Northern Israel would never be an option when you could have the one. With Syria out of the picture, Hizthrowup would lose its' benefactor(s). My belief is that Israel has no ill regard toward Lebanon and possibly would consider it a good viable neighbor down the road if the hostility would cease on the Northern border. Eliminate Syria! The only bad ink spot on this picture is on how dependable the LAF would hold up against Hizthrowup. There seems to be more loyalty to the tribes and sects in Lebanon (like many other ME countries)than to the country itself. May peace be with Lebanon & Israel.

The Assad's have been Isrials best friends, anyone how does not see that is willfully blind. And when the Assad regimen falls Hizbullah's pipeline will be cut off and the so called party of God will disintegrate.
