At least the President is admitting that we have a weak democracy. That's good. Do you have a roadmap leading to a stronger democracy Mr President? Does the formula include a state monopoly on weapons of war and on foreign policy making? These are crucial ingredients, you see. I understand that you don't want to talk about it in the open as you want to be a uniter and not a divider, but I hope that you have this in mind.
You have been ever so gradually raising your voice for true independence and I support this. But please Mr President, the last president who started to talk about independence and freedom was Renee Mouawad. We all know the result. Please be careful and may God grant you wisdom to navigate this country through these stormy waters.

Winston Churchill said that the aristocrats in England had freely given up the power that enabled England to become more of a democracy. The Christians in Lebanon (and their friends in Saudi Arabia, northwestern Europe, and the US) are thus called upon to think of the welfare of all. What good is it to occupy a castle in a wasteland?
Non state weapons -> no democracy
corrupt politicans-> no democracy
sectarian thinking-> no democracy
these matters are the problems not the "christians in power" like you claim. If these matters are solved we can think how to establish a democratic laic system for Lebanon but right now that's impossible. !!
