Miqati: Given Current Division, We Have No Choice But to Return to Dialogue
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةPrime Minister Najib Miqati stressed on Monday that the Lebanese parties have no choice but to return to dialogue given the current division in the country.
He said: “All sides should participate in the dialogue because the failure to do so means that the problems will be transferred elsewhere.”
He added that his visit to southern Lebanon over the weekend was aimed at voicing support for the Lebanese army and international agreements.
Moreover, he added that he will not head on an Arab tour before a number of internal matters are resolved.
The Prime Minister also revealed that the government is in the process of preparing a draft law on the demarcation of the maritime borders.
On a defense strategy for Lebanon, Miqati was quoted as saying by the deputy head of the editors Syndicate Saeed Nassereddine that efforts are ongoing to reach a strong strategy that would be able to defend the country.
Addressing the campaigns against the government, the premier stated: “I will not get embroiled in any debates with anyone.”
Yeah you should protect the country's maritime borders, but Mr. Najeeb (meaning clever in Arabic) does Lebanon only have borders with Israel? Do we have a neighbor called Syria who has for years refused and ignored our country's request to align the borders? I guess you call yourself "Wasaty" and as such you only see with one eye......!
This is about as credible a call to "dialogue" as the one Assad put out for the Syrian Opposition. One does not "dialogue" with dictators. They are not in the habit of engaging in genuine give and take and reaching consensus positions with that are at various with the positions demanded by the armed party.
The armed party never gives on negotiations because 1) he doesn't have to since he can force his will through arms and 2) in that culture, to give something to the opposition is a sign of weakness and you never show weakness even when you are.
So for their to be genuine dialogue as Mikati is talking about and Jumblatt, first the armed party in Lebanon, Hezbollah, but comply with 1559, 1701 and Taif by disarming, as did all other parties.
Otherwise, this "dialogue" is merely an attempt to put more facade over the positions of the armed party to make it more look like national consensus, when there is no national consensus for the Hezbollah program in Lebanon.
there is no choice ,it's bilad el arz or the devils: wahaby and farsi.
we already have a choice, the question is :when are u going to resign?
