Shiite Organizations, AMAL Cancel Daily Iftars over Security Fears
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةShiite organizations and charities have taken the decision to cancel over security fears the daily iftars that they used to hold throughout the holy month of Ramadan, reported al-Liwaa newspaper on Saturday.
The decision was also part of judicial rulings that call for canceling gatherings, regardless of the occasion, it added.
There are fears that terrorists may infiltrate such events and blow themselves up.
Hizbullah has also taken such measures, but no official statement has been issued by the party yet to confirm it, said al-Liwaa.
The cancellations only include iftars held in Beirut, but it will go ahead in the South and eastern Bekaa region.
Al-Liwaa noted that this is the first time in several years that these organizations have canceled the iftars, adding that they were held even during the worst years of the civil war.
Later on Saturday, AMAL Movement also announced that it is canceling all iftars that were scheduled to take place in different Lebanese regions “to preserve the safety” of the attendees.
It cited the “general situation in the country” and “the recent security conditions” as causes for its decision.
A previously unknown jihadist group linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has claimed responsibility for Wednesday's Duroy Hotel suicide attack in Beirut.
The group calling itself the state of Damascus-Qalamoun said on Thursday that two ISIL members targeted General Security agents at the hotel in Raouche.
It also vowed to carry out more attacks against Hizbullah and its agents, saying Wednesday's bombing was just the start.
Syria's civil war has spilled into Lebanon on numerous occasions and inflamed sectarian tensions. A series of car bombs have struck Shiite areas across Lebanon, killing dozens of people.
Sunni militants have claimed responsibility for the attacks to avenge Hizbullah, which has sent its fighters to Syria to help President Bashar Assad's troops in their fight against the rebels seeking to topple him.
weird! i hear hizbo people and supporters bragging that what happened to dahie is game for them since they are very strong and chosen people!
or may be they mis-expressed their feeling... they are not scared, they are shitless scared.
not to mention of course that all lebanese are paying their fear and terrorism bill!
Actually FT, there is no one as sectarian and hateful as you.
All your posts denote these characteristics!
thus why are you accusing others for what you are?
After all, they are speaking the truth: this is a sectarian Iranian terrorist group! this group has been killing babies in Syria!
ya gahba u totally missed the point here...this picture was carefully chosen showing veiled and unveiled(christian like) women watching the goat.. this is to show the world how open minded they are and how sunnis are medieval.. sunni and shias must move to 2014 learn from the west and educate the public
flamethrower, if I may ask, are you and your family "fida sirmayet el syed" ? and if yes, which one?
killna fida el sayyed! me, my husband, and my 17 sons and daughters!!! To us the life of a human being is worthless. The important thing is the continuation of the shiaa legacy. Long live the Islamic revolution of Iran. Long live Islamic rule in Lebanon under waliyy el fakih!
Don't be too happy terrorists, you will soon get a chance to experience death by a resistance fighter's bullet to your brain.
Judging by your anxiety, I'm sure you and your parents are "fida sirmaiyto lal syed" also, but truly the question is the right or the left one ? And if for example if he issues a "takleef" to send your sisters to iraq (cause the brothers are in Syria) , how would you respond ?
No offence intended
LOL, Winning #tigerblood. A couple of more such victories they'll all be joining hassan in the sewers.
