BeIN Sports-TL Hearing Adjourned as Maqdessi Vows to Defend Rights of Lebanese

A court hearing on Monday against Tele Liban over broadcasting World Cup 2014 matches without authorization was adjourned to later this week.

Judge Zalfa al-Hassan postponed the hearing to Friday to study the claims made by TL and beIN Sports, which filed the lawsuit over airing the World Cup matches.

TL started broadcasting the first match on June 16, although a deal reached between the government and beIN Sports' sole agent in Lebanon did not involve granting TL the rights to air the tournament.

On that same day, Telecommunications Minister Butros Harb had announced that the Lebanese would be able to watch the Brazil-hosted FIFA World Cup, which had already kicked off a week earlier, without paying any additional fees.

TL director Talal Maqdessi told LBCI TV's reporter outside the Justice Palace on Monday that the state broadcaster “will defend its rights and the rights of Lebanese citizens.”

Maqdessi said a decision was issued in Europe in 2012 saying World Cup matches should not be given exclusive broadcasting rights.

“BeIN Sports lost the race,” he added.

Wow, only in Lebanon you get to hear from someone like Talal Maqdessi's remarks, no credibility in Lebanon basic rights are stolen by idiocentric “Mucho” personality, looks like he is well into breaching laws and several cases worldwide remain opened against him. Where is the merits behind his argument, By protecting the rights of the Lebanese people?, since he is in advertising let assume someone takes an account from his portfolio without rights AKA “protecting the rights of the client and his/her clients” what will be his argument then?, BEIN Sports they should go after him personally after his claim that “I will pay from my own pocket…” another MUCHO TV Interview. How was he appointed the head of TL?, watch out Formula1, NBA, and superball for that matter why not… also what about all the people that paid money to get the STB and Pay for the rights?.... Finally, the Judge that was appointed needs to study the case, rather not comment on this anymore……

Talal Makdessi has a point, and it will be the court's decision wh can decide if his point of view is legal or not.
as for the accusations of ft towards a responsibility of boutros hard, well it shows how stupid ft is :)
boutros harb negotiated an agreement to allow the Lebanese people to see the mundial in a legal way for the time being, while his predecessor did not do anything when he was in power.

Thumb geha 30 June 2014, 14:16

stupid as always ft!

securing the rights of the mundial should have been prepared by sehanaoui, imbecile ft, that is if sehanaoui has any vision.
sehnaoui was in charge until the last moment, and Harb did save the day for us.

FT:
your undeniable stupidity has no equal as demonstrated by each and every post you make :)

what a hateful personality !
you show your hatred so clearly :)

FT that was a low blow against geha. you shouldnt have said this.

This is called entitlement mentality. Lebanese are a bunch of people who feel they are entitled to things without paying for them. If they want to watch, they have to pay. If they dont want to pay, let them watch reruns on free TV. That is it. There isnt such a thing as "right to watch football"

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Ie.
I'm not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I'd
post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Kudos
