The head of a Tripoli-based association was killed in Syrian troop shelling on al-Qalamun region in the neighboring country, media reports said on Tuesday.

"Head of al-Basha'er association Abou Mohammed al-Rifai and others were killed” in the latest battles in Syria, LBCI television said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, meanwhile, reported that seven Islamists were killed in shelling on al-Qalamun region, including the leader of an Islamic brigade.

According to the Syrian revolution's official web page, al-Rifai “founded al-Farouq Brigade, which was one of the first brigades” to fight in the war against President Bashar Assad's forces.

And before he died, al-Rifai was the head of the Wa-A'eddou Brigade, the same source said, noting that he was killed on Monday.

The web page provided more details on his activities in the Syrian war: “He was the real founder of the coordination committee in charge of taking care of Syria's refugees in Lebanon. Many activists in Lebanon were previously involved in the committee, which provided them with support and funding.”

And the Local Coordination Committee of Rankous said al-Rifai was in charge of supervising the treatment of the wounded in the northern city of Tripoli before getting involved in military operations.

A good Sanni is a dead Sanni, as always.

Firstly, it is not M14 that is sending troops or armies to fight in Syria. It is the Hizb. The army arrest and confiscate weapons belonging to those supporting the Syrian revolutionaries while the Hizb has a freedom of action and goes in and out of Syria without being molested.

but Cedre will have you know that this salafist was distributing bread, it is so obvious in the pic that's a bread basket on his side, not a gun.

Aounist MP Farid el-Khazen expressed his anger with Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s lies during the national dialogue when he vowed to maintain the peace at the Blue Line.

So what if a few Islamists from Tripoli went to Syria first. They're radicals. Just because they went shouldn't give Hezbollah the right to send THOUSANDS of men. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Thumb cityboy 13 August 2014, 00:53

That is not the point, the point is that you m14 blame HA exclusively for any spill over of the syrian conflict into Lebanon, all the while turning a blind eye to the involvement of lebanese salafist right from the outset of the war. These radicals you speak of had full politicsl cover, knowing full well that they werent there to hand out bread and blankets.

No that is utterly wrong. M14 said they condemn any intervention from Lebanon be it Hizbollah or any body else.

What better bishara about al-basha'er than this! May the virgins enjoy the times of their dead lives, or is it their lives dead? God must be enjoying all these orgies taking place under his watchful eyes!!!
