Gemayel in Bnashii for Talks with Franjieh

Kataeb party MP Sami Gemayel met on Thursday with Marada Movement chief MP Suleiman Franjieh on the third day of his tour on Christian leaders.

Gemayel headed to Zgharta's Bnashii for talks with Franjieh a day after he met with Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun.

The lawmaker said after talks with Aoun on Wednesday that the circumstances compelled him to visit Rabieh.

Gemayel had discussed with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea the latest developments in Lebanon and the ongoing presidential vacuum during a meeting in Maarab on Tuesday.

Last week, Gemayel accompanied Geagea to Saudi Arabia for separate meetings with senior Saudi officials and al-Mustaqbal leader Saad Hariri.

The country has been without a president since the term of Michel Suleiman ended in May as the rival parties have failed so far to agree on a compromise candidate, which is also threatening to torpedo the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The crises are threatening further vacuum at Lebanese institutions, which could also impact the cabinet.

Good work Sami, all you need is to move out of the shadow of the old man, surely you will get there. We've all been waiting for the day when all Christians will reunite and from thence when all Lebanese will unite. No one more than the Lebanese want peace and stability, and prosperity is a thing that is our right too. Let us unite and let us all live under the sole protection of the L.A.F and the law, one law for ever Lebanese citizen and without distinction.

These talks are pointless. Aoun needs to end the boycott. If he said he won't give up his candidacy, then he needs to go to Parliament and get MPs to vote for him. Or...he needs to agree on a compromise candidate. His stupid "direct" election proposal isn't even a direct election when Muslims can't even vote in the "first round." His proposal is a manoeuvre to avoid facing the music: that he wants to be president but can't get enough votes to be elected, and he doesn't want anyone else to have a chance at being elected.
