Series of Flooding in Lebanon Continue due to Rain: Citizens Trapped for Hours in Tunnels and Car Accidents Occur

It is not the first time that citizens get trapped inside their cars on the streets due to the floods caused by the rain. On Saturday, they were trapped for hours inside the tunnels of Beirut that witnessed traffic jams and several accidents.

In the tunnel towards Khalde, the citizens were entrapped inside their cars for hours as the rescue teams and ambulances worked on withdrawing them.

According to the traffic control, due to the storm the Airport-Khalde Road was closed from both directions because of the accumulation of water inside the tunnels, then it was reopened. But the traffic jam remained the same in different areas.

On the road towards Chouaifat- al-Hadath beside the Lebanese University the flooding led to a stifling traffic jam.

Moreover, a car on the highway of al-Naameh towards the south fell over and injuries were recorded and the Red Cross vehicles came to the scene.

On the Barbara highway towards the north, a person was killed due to a shocking accident.

While in Nahr al-mout, the ambulance teams worked on rescuing the citizens trapped inside their cars.

The Maritime Rescue teams also worked on rescuing the citizens stuck in their cars that sunk in pools of water along the road facing the electricity company in al-Zouk.

City Center mall in Hazmieh has been evacuated due to power outages on it for more than two hours.

According to Electricite du Liban: “Entire Lebanon is witnessing a blackout due to the disconnection of the network because of thunderbolts and workers have started repairing the damages.”

Lebanon used to be called the Switzerland of the Middle East, Beirut the Paris of the Middle East, now let my present to you Venice of the middle east, break out the Gondola... O Sole Mio and Santa Lucia, which I think means there's water in my shoe.

We are nagging yet we know what our politicians have done to the system, they stole all the money. After they reduced the Mwarneh's power, the 7warneh opened the highway of theft. Yalla, build fake projects, triple the price, triple the duration of building the project, then when the cash is stashed safely in Switzerland leave the Bounieh Ta7tiyyeh to collapse, then after create more fake maintenance schemes. Beirut, once the Pearl of the Orient is now looking more and more like a Yemeni town.
