Former Prime Minister Omar Karami voiced on Thursday his confidence that the Syrian leadership and people will overcome the current crisis Syria is going through.

He warned after holding talks in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar Assad of attempts to “fragment the region.”

Minister of Youth and Sports, Faisal Karami, the former PM’s son also attended the meeting.

The former premier also warned that attempts to fragment the region and create strife will have dangerous repercussions on the Middle East.

Syria has been witnessing anti-regime protests since March.

According to the United Nations, some 2,700 people have been killed in the regime’s crackdown against the protestors.

The regime has meanwhile blamed “armed gangs” for the unrest.

Karami met with the cause of the crisis. A dictator who inherited his rule from his father. After 41 years the Syrians have the right to ask for a change.
All those who hang to this sinking tyrant will find themselves drawning soon.

Losers meet losers...wonders if Omar and Faisal polished Aassad shoes while meeting him.

I mean on what capacity is he going to visit? Any why is it that all the so-caled Lebanese feudal leaders like Jumblatt and Karami everywhere they go they tag their sons along. Have you ever seen a picture of the cabinet where Faisal Karami just sits there with nothing to do

@ aragon...impressive insight. I think there may be some truth in what you say. I really don't think Israel or USA wants Assad out. There is not been a single bullet fired in the Golan Height in how many years? I think Isarel and USA is motivated to keep this status quo ongoing, unfortunately at the expense of the innocent Syrian public at large.

If Assad is seeking the support of the likes of Karami, then his end is truly near. Unless he's thinking of replacing the current PM.

Everyone has got his heir. karami and his son, Pierre Jumial and his sons, Harriri and his son, Shamoun and his sons, Humblat and his son, Aoun and his SIL and the rest of the gang and so on so forth. How could we survive in this country when it's like that. Are they better than the countries that give the rule to their sons, like Mubarak and Assad. Not a bit.
