Report: Bogdanov Had Stormy Meeting with Nasrallah over Assad
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةRussian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov reportedly had a stormy meeting with Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah last month.
The Saudi al-Watan daily on Sunday quoted sources as saying that during his talks with Nasrallah, Bogdanov proposed the possibility of naming a new Syrian president to lead a transitional government.
But Nasrallah snapped back, stressing Bashar Assad is a “red line,” said the sources.
“Any discussion on this issue means the end of dialogue,” the Hizbullah secretary general allegedly said.
Nasrallah's words angered the Russian diplomat who stormed out of the meeting while saying that discussions on the Syrian crisis should only be held with heads of state, the sources told al-Watan.
During his visit to Beirut last month, Bogdanov met with top Lebanese officials. He also traveled to Syria where he held talks with Assad and met with Syrian opposition groups in Turkey.
Russia is pressing a bid to restart a peace process for Syria that would include meetings between government officials and members of the opposition.
In November, Moscow held separate meetings in Moscow with a top opposition leader, Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib, and with a delegation headed by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem.
They are putting in place a partition plan: Alawistan, Shiistan, Druzistan, Kurdistan....the dream of Israel!
Such a meeting simply bring to surface an undeniable fact: That the game of time wastage is no longer in favor of people like Sayed Hassan nor of Bachar Al Assad. As the deadlock now persists in Syria, the major powers need to break the impasse with alternative approaches. Amongst other matters that Hezbollah and its allies keep delaying, the constitutional renewal of major posts in Lebanon. Although one can understand the predicament in which Sayed Hassan finds himself locked in, but nowadays time is no longer on his side, nor of those he feels he must support.
bro, I have to agree with you on this one bro. No more time wasting bro, no more delays bro. We need some action bro
well said and done Mr.Bogdanov
but you should have been more direct by saying: "the Syrian crisis should only be held with heads of state and not with heads of Militias"
Yes. That is what I care about. The last thing we need is some idiot using a Farsi to English translation program lecturing us on freedom of speech. Does the word hypocrisy exist in Farsi?
