General Security officers arrested on Monday a supporter of Ahmed al-Asir during a raid in the southern city of Sidon.

The state-run National News Agency said H.R. was apprehended by the Information Branch of the General Security during an early morning raid on an electronics shop.

In the evening, NNA said army intelligence agents arrested in Sidon a man identified as Musaab Qaddoura. It said he is a brother of Mutassem Qaddoura, "one of the most wanted supporters of al-Asir."

Later on Monday, the Army Command said an intelligence patrol arrested Mohammed al-Naqqouzi in Sidon over his ties to al-Asir.

“He has confessed to meeting terrorist groups and plotting to target army posts,” it added.

Al-Asir was arrested on Saturday at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport. He was carrying with him a forged Palestinian passport and trying to flee to Nigeria via Cairo.

General Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud later confirmed that said DNA samples taken from al-Asir match those of his parents

The firebrand anti-Hizbullah cleric had been on the run since June 2013 after his armed supporters clashed with the Lebanese army in Sidon.

Since Saturday, security forces have conducted several raids in and around Sidon in search of suspects linked to al-Asir.

LBCI TV said his questioning has so far led to the arrest of three people.

another blow to M14 & their supporters.

This could disrupt the fairy tale they had dreamed of.....

Geagea - President

Asir - Prime Minister

Atrash - spiritual leader.

How sad for M14.

Why DNA testing if he's confessed to be being Assir??

Typical bureaucratic imbeciles.

Ever watched mafia movies. Authorities gets a tip and catches a guy with fake passport he admits that he assir meanwhile the real assir is already in Egypt on his way to Zimbabwe. That's how the mafia discovered who is,loyal to the family and who is not.

phoenix, the troll has reached the lowest of lows. Don't bother.. we all know what's going on. What these online thugs do is typify what they do to us in real life. They crippled the country, stole its resources, destroyed its institutions all under the pretext of Christian rights on one hand and resistance on the other. I am sure you travel and have traveled plenty in your life. Have you seen how Lebanese passport holders are treated at airports? Have you seen countries like Moldova how they have almost become part of the E.U (They travel without visas to Europe).? and we are still talking resistance and killing Syrians, Saudis, Yemenis, Kuwaitis, Bahrainis..... No hope phoenix no hope.

being the brother of a 'suspect' or 'supporter' of Asir makes you a suspect too? great logic ya southern.

To other commentators on this website:

I am a Lebanese neither 8 nor 14, I was not born in Lebanon and came to live a few years ago but could not tolerate the hatred you have and the blind-mindedness of most of you.

We are the youth of Lebanon, for once, leave this resentment aside and look at the common woes and hardships you have together, you fight over politics and you allow the politicians to dump you into garbage, the country is swimming in garbage and it is the will of the people that can change everything.

For once, stand outside the box and think outside the box. whether 8 or 14 calling each other names and living a clash will not lead you anywhere. It is so sad to see that Lebanon, and the Lebanese who brag about being civilized are the most uncivilized.

And keep in mind: the loser in all this mess is the people :) so enjoy a miserable life just because you chose to be blind, just because you chose to hate, and just because ....

whomever chose not to post my first comment:

you know that you are not any better than other prejudice websites that are shallow-minded and driven by the stupid game of powers. Lebanon will never change because of people like you. you allow that guy to post his words and curses but are selective on my comments why??

well, I have a screen capture and I will spread it all around the internet and tell the Lebanese that you are not any better :)
