MP Michel Aoun is reassured by al-Mustaqbal Movement chief ex-PM Saad Hariri's willingness to discuss all the options at hand to give momentum to the presidential file, which the MP interpreted as a tacit approval of supporting him for the post, the Kuwaiti As-Seyasah daily reported on Monday.

Although Hariri has not openly disclosed support for Aoun, but founder of the Free Patriotic Movement Aoun is reassured that Hariri is willing to take into consideration all the options available to end the over two-year vacuum at the post, according to information obtained by the daily.

Aoun translated Hariri's step as a tacit support for his nomination.

The MP has asked his deputies and party officials to praise the political stances and “initiative” of Hariri, and at the same time announcing the rejection of any attempt to impose conditions on the new president of the republic.

Hariri's return to Lebanon last week has triggered a flurry of rumors and media reports about a possible presidential settlement and the possibility that the former premier has finally decided to endorse Aoun for the presidency in a bid to break the deadlock.

Lebanon has been without a president since the term of Michel Suleiman ended in May 2014 and Hizbullah, Aoun's Change and Reform bloc and some of their allies have been boycotting the parliament's electoral sessions, stripping them of the needed quorum.

Hariri, who is close to Saudi Arabia, launched an initiative in late 2015 to nominate Marada Movemnet chief MP Suleiman Franjieh for the presidency but his proposal was met with reservations from the country's main Christian parties as well as Hizbullah.

Hariri's move prompted Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea to endorse the nomination of Aoun, his long-time Christian rival, after months of political rapprochement talks between their two parties.

The supporters of Aoun's presidential bid argue that he is more eligible than Franjieh to become president due to the size of his parliamentary bloc and his bigger influence in the Christian community.

Aoun Hails Hariri for Openness to Presidency Options

Interesting indeed! Is this the same hariri that Aoun wrote an one way ticket for?

"Aoun: Syrian Crisis is Over, Another One-Way Ticket Awaits Hariri
After the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting, he said Hariri “can say whatever he wants. Who asked him not to return? There is another type of one-way ticket if he wants to return to Lebanon and he knows it.”

Addressing the reporters at his press conference, the MP said: “Next Tuesday you will tell me if the crisis in Syria has persisted. I believe that it is over.”

You have received so many millions from Ebola and Iran that you are now their lackey and prisonner....but you feel that they don't trust you...so you beg Hariri...

If you want to ask forgiveness, then you must clearly admit your past insults to Rafic Hariri, to his son, to the Mostakbal, to the Saudis, and to the Sunnis.
You have to repeat what you said on French TV in 2005 that Syria assassinated Rafic Hariri.
You have to apologize in a very clear way and explain your program for Lebanon : will you continue accepting another army? Will you continue to tolerate a "State within the State"? Will you continue to sport a criminal by the name of the Butcher? Will you continue stealing money with your son-in-outlaw?

Aoun is unprincipled and unhinged except for the one constant. If you like him, then he likes you, regardless of whether you did not like him before. Hariri was the devil when he categorically opposed Aoun's demand to be president. Not only Hariri but all Sunnis were demonized by Aoun and his Aouni.
Now that Hariri says he has an open mind about the topic, Aoun loves Hariri. Unprincipled people can turn on a dime like that. But what about the Aouni?? Those trained in hating Sunni and Hariri in particular. Can they turn on a dime like Aoun?? He has played on their prejudice to his advantage. Can he turn that off as easily as he turned it on?

In Colombia the brave people have voted to reject peace with a murderous militia because the peace deal gives full amnesty to the mass-murderers and doesn't require that the looters and thieves contribute in any financial way in rebuilding the country while guaranteeing them ten seats in the country's government.
In Lebanon, the cowardly politicians are betraying the nation, betraying the people, tolerating a murderous militia allowing it to impose a repugnant and filthy foreign-ordered president on us. How much lower still can Lebanon go?
