Kataeb Slams 'Gross Failure' to Pass Electoral Law, Warns on Electricity Plan
The Kataeb Party on Monday lashed out at the ruling political class over its “gross failure to pass a fair electoral law that guarantees correct representation.”
Authorities are “disregarding all electoral deadlines, which would destroy all the foundations of the democratic life in the country and hijack the people's will to change and their aspirations for a civilized state governed by justice, order and law,” Kataeb's political bureau said in a statement issued after its weekly meeting.
Separately, the party warned the government against “implementing electricity plans that lead to the same results of the previous plans,” noting that “the ideal solution is liberating production and not suggestions that increase public debt and the financial burdens on the state's treasury.”
And referring to this week's Arab Summit in Jordan, Kataeb stressed the need for “full commitment to Lebanon's neutrality and to the relevant U.N. resolutions” and the need to “steer the country clear from the regional axes that have only brought the country woes, conflicts and domestic strife.”
