Speaker Nabih Berri adjourned until June 12 a legislative session that was previously scheduled to convene on June 5 to tackle the country's electoral law, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.

Berri's move came after President Michel Aoun signed a key decree on Thursday opening an extraordinary legislative session that will begin on “June 7 until June 20” limited to the approval of an electoral law.

Political parties have been rallying to propose electoral law formats to replace the current 1960 majortitarian law before the parliament's term ends on June.

On Thursday, they agreed on a law based on full proportional representation and 15 electoral districts and it was agreed that the details will be finalized before the expiry of parliament's term.
