Bassil: Some March 14 Members Assisting Qaida-Affiliated Groups

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Energy Minister Jebran Bassil stated on Thursday that al-Qaida has infiltrated Lebanon under the guise of various groups, such as Fatah al-Islam and Jund al-Sham.

He said during a press conference: “The president and prime minister know this, as does the March 14 camp and some of its members even sympathize and assist these groups.”

“The army has paid the price of these groups and the defense minister’s statements on al-Qaida are not an analysis, but tangible information,” he added.

“Whoever sympathizes with these groups will be held accountable for his positions,” continued the minister.

Bassil accused the terrorist groups of seeking to target high-ranking army officials, including Brigadier General Francois al-Hajj.

Hajj was assassinated in a car bomb attack in Baabda on December 12, 2007.

Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn stated a few weeks ago that al-Qaida had infiltrated the Bekaa town of Arsal.

He made his statements shortly before twin bombings took off in the Syrian capital Damascus.

Syria accused al-Qaida of being behind the attack.

The March 14 camp has criticized Ghosn’s remarks, saying that he is seeking to drag Lebanon into the Syrian crisis and tarnish the country’s image.

funny isn t it! while his father in law clearly said that syria would infiltrate lebanon with islamists groups the day they would leave, and knowing that jund el sham is clearly pro syrian, the leader of fath el islam came from syria and spent time in dahiye before nahr elbared, M14 is assisting them! soooooo funny!

@ @fpm I suggest you look up the CNN interview with Seymour Hersh - the same guy who showed the world the torture the US was doing in Abu Ghraib. During the war with Fatah al Islam he said there were some from within the Lebanese Government who admitted to him that the Hariri family were working with Al Qaida linked extremists to fight Hizballah - especially since they know the Army in Lebanon will never do it and Israel failed to do it as well. So they went with the equation "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Wasn't it also the Hariri family who paid for certain militants to be released from jail a few years ago - militants who killed Lebanese Army Soldiers in Dinniyeh?

..you see the old timers in the Tayyar started asking questions so we had this X-rayed. Turns out there is mostly void with in the middle a little mouse running inside a little wheel and if it stops running everything else stops. So now I have to shove cheese up my nose every three hours even a night or else the mouse will starve to death. Chantal has hired a Filipina who does the shoving while I sleep without waking me up, she's also a wizard at Mani Pedi, the Filipina not Chantal.

A brief profile of sweating_demon on wikipedia:
1) a hard-core supporter of the Failed Patriotic Movement aka FPM because according to him it is the only "secular" political bloc in lebanon.2) considers Berri a Mafioso, but Bassil and Aoun reformists.3) studied Greek Mythology when most people were still in diapers which gives him the right to speak down to people.4) watched the movie 300, but NOT in Dahiyeh.
5) owns his "own business", a hight tech start-up Basterma & Falafel stand in Bourj Hammoud, and another more private business selling "lingerie" to russian girls in Maameltein.
6) a "perfectionist" who only owns "original" DVDs and books.7) can read & Write…… hardly.
7) supports democracy in the Arab World, but also supports the Syrian regime coz he is afraid about minorities' future like shia (but he is not shia….)if the regime falls.
last but not least 8) a pretentious certified idiot.

To stop all infiltrators and extremists and terrorists and thiefs and crooks there is only one solution, allow Lebanon to be sovereign and to have a strong government with weapons only in the hands of governmental forces.
In a lawless land one extremism attracts the other.

@fpm why do you waste your time conversing with something who calls itself sweating_demon? Don't you realize the only way do drain the swamp is not to engage filth like this piece of work in a conversation?

When they realize they are talking to themselves they will go back to tayyar.org and leave us alone.

there is NO difference between al qaida jund elsham fatah el islam hamas and hezbollah ... all are extremist islamist groups doing politics...
hezbollah is shia paid by iran the others sunni paid by iran and other countries! but none of them work for peace, all are mercenaries obeying to who pays the most! and all use the same techniques to seduce their sheep...

but FPM is playing a very dangerous game by trying to associate al qaeda with sunnis and M14, perfectly knowing they are spreading hatred and division because it suits their syrian master...
how come el qaeda suddenly becomes an issue now that syria is in difficulty, and they never spoke about that before? ... and also forgetting what their leader claimed some years ago on those so called islamists groups!
but who knows when bashar falls aoun is going to pretend he was always against him!

oh and don t forget m bassil : "Since the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, Yakan’s Islamic Action Front had been allied with the Hizbullah-led opposition...
and Yakan stated the Front’s commitment to all aspects of Jihad, including its military side, and its willingness to fight alongside Hizbullah." http://globalmbreport.org/?p=1512

so why don t you also say that some sunni extremist groups work and are trained by hezbollah?

Bassil and his boss have to learn to read first, only then they should be allowed to be in politics. Shame that we ended up in a country that allows ignorant people to be in power.

Missing peace 06 January 2012, 00:39

oh some seem to forget that some sunni extremists from tripoli are trained by hezb in the bekaa...
and those who accept that a political party stays armed more than the national army just don t believe in the state but rather in chaos....morover a party financed by a foreign state: if that s not treason

wh is an energy minister involved with such political issues. I would ve thought that the defence or interior, or even foreign ministerd would be the more suitable spkesperson on such an issue.
Peaace"s comments sound sensible.

M8 people, extremism engenders extremism... if there are extremists in this country, it is because of the hezb!
They set the example! Maybe it is true, maybe it isn't, but if it is, Hezb is to blame for their radical positions which will unfortunately (sooner or later) call for a counter radicalism...Bravo!

Wow that is very serious accusations , every one knows who is benefiting from terrorism the most and who is the real terrorist for the Lebanese state and people, The real terrorists are Hezbollah, Aoun and their allies who are laundering the money of people toward their stock pile of rockets, just like the brothers the Zionist, enable to burn the country as fast as they can. Where is the electricity you have promised about, people like you need to mind their own business more than accusation policy, you need to do your job.
