Hariri Says GCC Must Adopt Qatar Proposal on Syria Troops
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFormer premier Saad Hariri on Wednesday said the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council must endorse a Qatari proposal to dispatch Arab troops to revolt-hit Syria, where the regime's crackdown on protests has cost more than 5,400 lives since March, according to U.N. estimates.
Answering a question on the social networking website Twitter, Hariri also said his opposition March 14 camp was being “attacked” because it is at the “core” of the Arab Spring sweeping across the region.
Asked when he would return to Lebanon, Hariri tweeted in English: “You will wake up soon and hear the news.”
The Qatari proposal could be discussed at a meeting of Arab League foreign ministers over the weekend but is not on the agenda, Adnan Khodeir, the Syria chief of operations for the League, said on Wednesday.
Syria has flatly rejected Qatar's call to send Arab troops to the country and on Wednesday Syrian state media accused Doha of arming and financing opponents of President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
Activists say an Arab League observer mission has failed to stop the bloodshed since it deployed on December 26 in Syria.
You are absolutely correct. Not only the GCC but the whole Arab world must back up Qatar's Proposal. May god protect you Sheikh Saad.
Yalla Battikh yi Kasser Ba3do.... Nothing good will come out of this. We have seen what Kouwwat il Rad'e have done in Lebanon....
LOl @ the scum Hariri; this is the same hypocritical filth that defended Bahrain's clampdown on protestors. Of course, March 14 losers are all fifthly, hypocritical scum. ONE WAY TICKET!
Of course. Send them to Syria, but not one soldier to protect palestinians. I admire his father, but this naïve kid with no political background should stay away from politics. A governmental position such as premiership should not be inheritable. This isn't the Al-Saud monarchy,
Saad, Your father died for Lebanon. He got the syrians out and we were all happy. Please don't try and do the opposite of what your Dad did and destroy Lebanon. You know Hizballah will not disarm and will be as they are as long as israel stays at what they are. That is reality, you cannot fight it but you can accept it for Lebanon's sake until the day comes when there is a comprehensive resolution in the middle east. Then everyone might put their weapons down. And Lebanon wins.
Truth is Hizballah's exsitence is indirectly a result of Israel's. So as much as one dislikes them he must remember what caused them to be in the first place. As much as one dislikes them if he loves Lebanon then he must dislike their indirect creator Israel more.
What a hero... maybe you can coordinate the troops yourself through twitter. This time however, instead of invading Bahrain to brutally suppress peaceful demonstrations... the same troops can enter syria on the side of the armed protesters.
It's forbidden to protest in saudi arabia, Kuwait and bahrain, where these "protesting cockroaches must be crushed".... but syria? Send in the troops to allow democracy. LOL Hypocrisy has no limits.
Imagine if all this happened when Mr Saad was still PM... it would have been a war in Lebanon now...
I think he learned a lot from George W. Bush when it comes to calling for invading other countries...
War isn't a game Mr. Saad, tell me what will you gain from this war? killing more people just to look like a war hero? As Sami Gemayel said, the problem in Lebanon is not the war in Syria, it is Hizbullah and we all agree with that... now face the real problem as a lebanese, if you really are one!
Syria will soon be ours, YES on the side of truth and freedom, on the side of M14 "inshallah"...you like it or not SYRIA is ours :) yes it's Sheikh Saad's Syia...
Hariri junior is trying to boost his popularity in Syria. It is a shame because i respected the father and we could talk all day about what he has done right or wrong, at least he does not have blood on his hands as many war criminals we have. Anyway coming back to the topic, sheikh Saad, you should stay away from this, it could turn very bad for you and others, although it is clear i am with freedom in Syria, but not this way, i agree bachar got a lot out of hands and must go. But i dont see any moderate substitute and if the muslim brotherhood comes, they will create an alliance Egypt-Libya-Tunis-Syria and will probably crush Jordan as well and will become a cercle of extremism. And eventually that what the west want to tackle Iran. We are beeing used all as bait
Ya Allouchi, what truth and what freedom? The way I see things going in the Region, there are two options really. One is the Dictatorship of the Sheikhs, Emirs and their likes and the other is the Dictatorship of the Islamist, the Jihadist and the Moslem Brotherhoods. Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt, and soon Syria, they will all be under a Theocracy that will look like either Iran or Saudia. And as a consequence, Lebanon will soon be taken over by these "democrats". Democracy? Real true Democracy? This word does not exist in the Arabic - Muslim - Persian dictionary. Unfortunately...
Stay in France where you belong. Lebanon doesn't need more traitors inside the country, we have enough with the Mustaqbal and Forces.
