Protesters Block Jal el-Dib Highway over Social Demands
Demonstrators on Monday blocked the vital Jal el-Dib highway in protest at plans by authorities to end the subsidization of essential goods.
Minor scuffles with army troops were recorded during the sit-in.
The National News Agency said the protest was organized by the General Union of the Syndicates of Lebanon’s Workers under slogans warning against “hunger”.
The highway was reopened after around 50 minutes.
