Report: Egyptian Gas to Restore Lebanon's Power Supply if Govt. Formed

Many legal, technical and financial obstacles that had been hindering the agreement to import Egyptian gas to Lebanon have been removed, media reports said on Monday.
Sources asserted to al-Akhbar newspaper that “the agreement will also include the shipment of the imported gas to Al-Zahrani, which will lead to the operation of the two largest power plants in Lebanon.”
They confirmed that Egyptian gas can arrive to Lebanon “within weeks of signing the agreement.”
Yet, the newspaper said that the agreement cannot be signed before the new government's formation.
Separately, Egypt will provide natural gas to Jordan so that it can produce electricity to be supplied to Lebanon via Syria.
The electricity from Jordan will take time to reach Lebanon, according to the newspaper, given the damage of the power transmission towers in southern Syria.

Just think that if all those years ago Lebanon had completed the process of that peace treaty with Israel.
Just think that if in recent times Lebanon and Israel had agreed on the maritime border then Lebanon could have imported gas from the Israeli fields until the Lebanese ones were up and running. A lot cheaper than having to import it from Egypt.
Just think that if all that would have happened Lebanon could have received electricity from the Israeli National Grid instead of having to import it from Jordan via Syria, a lot cheaper and certainly a lot sooner.
But who am I to tell the Lebanese how to run their country into anarchy.

Philippo you are talking like if we were a sovereign country. We are not. We are u a tool in the hands of an armed militia working for Iran/Assad. And any resistance that our leaders have mounted in the past against that milicia have led to them being bombed. They killed Bachir and Rafic and left us with trash like of Berri and Bassil. HOW CAN YOU BUILD A COUNTRY WITHOUT STATESMEN? You cant. Before 2005 we were finishing an infrastructure project, a bridge, a road each week. Since then it was downhill. Nothing but bad news and more bad news. And now bad news reached civil society the last rampart for a thriving normal Lebanon.

Or just think if all those years ago, europan jews had stayed in their own countries instead of going to palestine creating terror militias such as the haganah and irgun that massacred people and then stole other peoples land and caused mayhem on earth and then creating a state on dtolen land with the help of britain and then brought in other jews from all around the world that they have no ethnic ties with to live on stolen land. That would have been great.

You can either live in the past or except reality or, might I suggest, just eat cheesecake.

Cheesecake, should the USA give back their land to the Native American Indians? Get over it and move on.

but that would not have brought electricity to Lebanon all the same…. so, you’d better start looking at the damage your corrupt political class made to the country… unless, of course, you value more Palestinians owing the land rather than Lebanese having bread, electricity, medicines and fuel

yeah, but that would have meant going straight out of the middle ages into a modern society… Lebanese leaders instead were not yet ready to give up their feudal sectarian privileges and needed a justification to maintain the mock resistance thus having a pretext to control people’s lives
