Reports: No Appointments during Today's Cabinet Session
Amal and Hizbullah haven't reached an agreement on a name for a new State Security deputy chief, MTV said.
The channel learned Tuesday that Hizbullah named Anwar Hamieh from Bekaa, while Amal leaned toward Hassan Shoukeir from the South.
Ministerial sources told MTV that no appointments will be made during today's session.
Two security appointments were approved during the last Cabinet session sparking controversy, as Amal and Hizbullah's ministers said they weren't pre-informed and the topic was not on the session's agenda.
"The Shiite ministers had not prepared a name for the State Security deputy chief,” President Michel Aoun said. “They demanded delaying the appointments until they provide the name. I gave them a week in order to appoint him in the next Cabinet session,” Aoun added.
