MP Jumblat meets al Rahi over presidency: Army chief in the lead
Democratic Gathering Bloc chief MP Taymour Jumblat met Tuesday with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi in Bkerki.
He was accompanied by a delegation from the bloc.
MP Raji Saad said after the meeting that there is no agreement on a specific presidential candidate, adding that the name of the army chief is in the lead, as it has emerged as the strongest candidate during the meetings between the blocs.
Saad said that al-Rahi did not express his opinion regarding the candidates but has confirmed that he has repeatedly heard the name of Gen. Joseph Aoun, during his meetings.
The lawmaker also said that the bloc and Bkerki agreed today on the implementation of the Taif agreement and on the need for administrative decentralization.
