New minor earthquake felt in Lebanon
A magnitude-4.6 earthquake struck the Syrian coast at 1:15 pm Thursday and was felt in Lebanon, the director of Lebanon’s National Center for Geophysics, Marleine Brax, said.
The quake was felt in Beirut and several Lebanese regions.
Syria’s National Earthquake Center meanwhile announced that a 4.5-magnitude “aftershock” hit southwest of Turkey’s Antakia, which was devastated by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that rocked the region on February 6.
A 4.2-magnitude earthquake hit five kilometers south of Lebanon's eastern Hermel region last Wednesday and was felt by residents in the Bekaa, the North, Metn, Keserwan and Beirut.
Lebanon's residents are still reeling from the Feb. 6 earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria and was recorded as a 40-second, 4.7-magnitude tremor in Lebanon.
