Reports: Franjieh seeks votes as Hezbollah bets on Bassil stance

W460

Marada Movement chief Suleiman Franjieh has asked Hezbollah for a period of one more month in which he hopes to secure a sufficient number of votes for his election as president, informed sources told the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper.

A highly informed source meanwhile told the daily that Hezbollah is “betting on lenifying (Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran) Bassil’s stance on Franjieh’s election, based on a list of presidential, political and governmental incentives” to which the Marada chief would commit, accompanied by “guarantees” from Hezbollah.

“This was obvious between the lines of (Speaker Nabih) Berri’s latest stances in terms of the continued betting on a change in Bassil’s viewpoint on Franjieh’s election,” the source added.

Our current Hell compliment of Aoun/Bassil will look like paradise compare to where Lebanon will be if Frangieh, this dangerous Useful Idiot stooge of both Hizbollah and Assad is elected President. Then we'll all sing Lebanon Requiem and welcome the Basij and Assad Mukhabarat to every home. The diaspora, Lebanon last lifeline, should make it clear that not one dollar should be transferred to Lebanon if this incompetent and intellectually and politically bankrupt Frangieh is crowned dummy head by Hizbollah, Iran's Foreign Legion and Lebanon worst enemy.

The perpetuation of political dynasties poses a significant challenge to the principles of democracy. When individuals from the same family such as the Aouns/ Bassilor or lineage such as rhe Franjié, dominate positions of power, it leads to a concentration of authority and resources in the hands of a select few, while limiting opportunities for fresh perspectives and new voices to emerge.

This always results in a lack of accountability, transparency, and fair representation for all citizens. Therefore, patriarch Rahi must recognize the dangers of political dynasties, disqualify them in his dominical homilies and take measures to promote diversity and inclusivity in political leadership.

MikeA good try. In the US half a dozen states with about 1/2 million population have same 2 senators as California with 40 million residents. Your percentages will make more sense if distributed by % tax payment, % contribution to GNP, % contribution to deficit and % tax evasion via illegal crossings, airports and ports. Lebanon with 7% to 9% GNP growth after Cedar Revolution combined with stable lira was according to all experts on path to become the Singapore and economic powerhouse of the region instead of a beggar state compliment of Hizbollah. No one argue that Hizbollah caused the exodus of all well paying western firms. Hizbollah also caused sustained sky high interest rate due to political risk and armed presence drying up local and foreign investments. Hizbollah cost to the economy is in the hundreds of $billions and can easily be calculated by any qualified risk assessment firm. It is the cancer sucking u Lebanese blood. This info is economy 101. Any questions?
