French presidential adviser Patrick Durel has received from Marada leader Suleiman Franjieh signed written guarantees about his stance on different domestic and Arab issues, Nidaa al-Watan newspaper reported Thursday.

Durel conveyed the guarantees to Saudi Arabia, the daily said.

Saudi royal envoy Nizar Al-Aloula told Durel, in the presence of Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Bukhari to leave the guarantees in order to study them.

Franjieh had met Durel last month in Paris and reportedly discussed Saudi demands regarding the presidential file.

A local media also reported Thursday that the presidential impasse is near and that a president might be elected before June. It said that talks are ongoing between the five nations that took part in the latest Paris meeting over Lebanon and that France might send an envoy to Beirut in the coming days.

The last time 14 March compromised on a pro-Hezbollah presidential candidate, the Lebanese economy imploded.
I do not know why France is pushing for Franjieh. It makes no sense at all.
I do not think that attaching Nawaf Salam to Franjieh will be beneficial to Lebanon's economy or to Nawaf Salam.
As long as we have Nabih Berri and Hezbollah's weapons, no real reform will happen and Lebanon will remain unstable.
Salam will not be able to manoeuvre and he will get burned.

A conspiracy theorist will tell you that giving the country to a Hezbollah superfan like Franjieh, will make it easier to bomb it to oblivion once Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities are destroyed via air and missile assault by Israel and potentially the US. (And after the Saudi-Iran deal, Saudi Arabia will escape Iranian revenge post air and missile strikes).

France especially sought assurance that Lebanon's racist Constitutional Article 24, which assigns half of parliamentary seats to Christians, remains untouched, according to France's Ministry of Racism.

Professor chrisrushlau added "Noam Chomsky and I did a deep dive into the DNAs of the whole Lebanese population and came to this irrefutable conclusion. The Christians, Sunnas, Shias, Druze and the rest are not the same race. They are of different races. Yes I know, we were surprised too. The Shias are the original people of Lebanon going back to the time of the dinosaurs and even before the Extraterrestrials came to earth. The Christians are Vikings who got lost while raiding Southern England in the 7th century, took a left turn at Albuquerque, umm, I mean Britney, then another left turn at Cascais Portugal, entered the Mediterranean and landed in Lebanon and did what Vikings do. All the Sunnas came here on one large party camel from Arabia and settled in costal cities. The Druse came over in the 11th century, etc. This is scientifically proven."
