Jumblat hits out at 'hardliner' Geagea
Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat has said that the decision to boycott the latest Maarab meeting was taken by the PSP and not by him personally.
“It wasn’t me. It was the PSP that took the decision not to go to Maarab. Then what’s the point of meeting people who do not recognize us?” Jumblat added, in an interview with the L'Orient-Le Jour newspaper.
Asked whether the PSP’s boycott was aimed at preventing Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea from crowning himself as the leader of the opposition, Jumblat said: “We have our centrist stance and we support the approach of compromises, whereas he is a hardliner. If he wants to prove himself as a leader of the opposition, let him do that without us. I don’t have any problem.”
“What Maarab does not want to admit is that Speaker Nabih Berri is the one tasked with negotiating with U.S. presidential envoy Amos Hochstein, and the truth is that Berri is negotiating over the possibility of separating the Lebanese file from the Gaza file,” Jumblat went on to say.
"What Maarab does not want to admit is that Speaker Nabih Berri is the one tasked with negotiating with U.S. presidential envoy Amos Hochstein"
... and who tasked him? you?
Jumblatt's attempt to distance himself from the PSP's boycott decision lacks credibility. His refusal to engage with those who disagree reflects a narrow-minded and confrontational approach, detrimental to Lebanon's ‘progress’ (as per the ‘PSP'). Accusing others of not recognizing Berri's role seems like a diversion tactic. Overall, his motives appear self-serving and devoid of genuine concern for the country's well-being.
Jumblatt is increasingly a Hizbollah’s Trojan Horse and spokesman of political mafia. An embarrassment to the Proud and Free Druze community. With close friends Beri and Frangieh, Jumblatt is a major liability to our freedom, sovereignty and democracy.
Lebanon free leaders and organizations in collaboration with involuntary diaspora must cease the opportunity and call for Cedar Revolution 2 No Arms outside Army and no more political mafia under Hizb control. This to be followed by ultimatum to Hizbollah and Hamas to disarm. Army under new leadership must call on all volunteers to liberate Lebanon from Iranian occupation by Iran's Foreign Legion Hizbollah. Hundred thousands volunteers are eager to help and restore freedom, independence, sovereignty and democracy.
