US official says Washington pressing Israel not to wage war on Lebanon
A U.S. official has told Al-Arabiya television that neither Israel nor Hezbollah wants to engage in an all-out war.
Revealing that Washington is pressing Israel not to wage a war on Lebanon, the official said his country does not want to see an expansion of the Gaza conlfict in the region.
The U.S. has used diplomatic channels to urge Iran not to escalate, the official told Al-Arabiya.
He also noted that Israel is capable of launching a full-blown assault that would inflict major damage on Hezbollah but that the latter is not capable of waging a war on Israel.
