Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Saturday paid an inspection visit to war-hit south Lebanon.

Mikati started his tour at an army barracks in Tyre before inspecting official school exam centers and holding a meeting with health officials.

“During all junctures, we reiterate that the army is the supporter and the nation’s guardian par excellence. The main stop in our tour today is for checking the conduct of official exams, but the trivial question is, ‘Would there have been an ability to carry out the exams without the presence of the army in the south?’” Mikati said.

“The threats that we are witnessing are a form of psychological warfare, and the question that everyone is asking is whether there will be a war. Yes, we are in a state of war and there are large numbers of civilian and non-civilian martyrs and a lot of destroyed villages due to the Israeli aggression,” the premier added.
